Anyone else's study materials talk about the 1995 Private Secuirites Litigation Reform Act? I don't remember seeing a blitz video on it or hearing about it in the Ninja Audio that I've listened to so far, but it's in my CPAExcel Notes. They are a year old so I'm not sure if this is tested anymore and whether or not I need to know it.

Does anyone know if the 2014 tax updates that will be tested are available anywhere? I have heard that prep courses start releasing updated information in June, but studying these old numbers is really messing with my head.

(If I had known about this, I probably would have taken AUD next, instead of REG.)

Congrats on your FAR pass Bronxbombers!

I love that the S in S Corp stands for “Small and simple”, but it's bigger than a C corp. Why do things have to be so complicated? And while I'm in a mood–I could seriously shoot the parties responsible for all these different distinctions of companies with all the different rules. Okay–Enough whining…back to nailing this REG info! Happy studies!

You're so right Mamabear. I feel like this one is going to take a lot more memorizing.

Yes, lots of memorization. 🙁 Why couldn't I have taken this in my 20s when I actually had a good memory. I swear each one of my kids took a portion of my memory away during pregnancy and never gave it back. So I'm probably only working with 30% now. Little rascals. My typed up notes are up to 95 pages already and I haven't added in 8 sections of material or started MCQs yet. Flashcards and Audio are going to be my best friends for this exam.

That's actually why I stopped combining all the notes. I don't think I'll get as much from typing and I could tell that writing them all was going to be a slow, slow process. So, I'm going through the Blitz video and then I plan on going MCQ crazy. I'll write down additional notes and read additional sections as I come across the material in the questions. I hope I don't regret the switch, but I think it's the only method that will keep my focus.

@jhawkins–I'm starting to agree with you. This feels like a futile effort. I'm learning some of the information as I go, but it just seems like it might be a waste of time. I'm going to see how the rest of today goes and then decide if I'll stop combining and start MCQ. I just don't want to be MCQ burnt out by the time of the test as I have been in the past. Of course I passed those tests so maybe I do need to be burnt out on them to pass. Who knows? I've taken 4 tests and I am still trying to figure out what method of studying will work best. *sigh*

Hi all! Just curious…..is anyone using the NINJA MCQ? How are you tackling the SIMS in this software? I can't seem to filter by only one subject area, it's a random mix. Guess I'll just continue with MCQ and lectures until I figure it out. This is my 3rd attempt at REG. Sad but true. The last exam really messed me up because I was buying a house and the stress of that process got to my head a bit. At this point, I'll be taking REG in late July only because we move into our house first week of July. This strategy is built in with a week long cushion of “distractions” aka unpacking. This is my last try……gotta make it happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Ninja MCQ, but I haven't started using it yet. If I can't filter the SIMS by topic then I think I will just go through all the MCQ first and then start working SIMS in whatever order they pop up. Major life changes like moving add a lot of stress to an already stressful situation. Take it with ease and pack one or two suitcases of things you need to unpack right away to get you through test time. You can worry about the other stuff when you are done with this exam. Good luck to you!

Well this weekend didn't feel productive, but when I look at my 100 pages of typed notes I realize that I accomplished more than I thought. this week is month end and our system is down today for a taxware update so we can't get a jump start on close out. I'm not sure how much studying I can get done this week, but I am going to print my notes, take them everywhere with me, and try to get through three sections before the week is out and start on MCQ next weekend. I have 15 sections of notes and I should be able to get through all of them in June and review for 2.5 weeks before my July test date. How did you guys do studying this weekend?
