Well I sufficiently scared the crap out of myself by doing some last minutes SIMS in Ninja. DO NOT DO THAT on exam day! Total confidence killer. Being that this is my 5th exam, I should know better.

Hello! I just finished the first long lecture of R3. This chapter scares me a little, I think because there is so much material. How's everyone's studying going?

My study program finishes with tax and I start on that this weekend. I'm hoping to be done by beginning of August in order to have two full weeks of intense review. I feel pretty confident in what I've studied so far and have been averaging 80's and 90's in Blaw quizzes in Ninja MCQ. I work in public accounting and do taxes (individual, corporate, partnerships, trusts, 990's) in my job so hopefully tax will come fairly easily. I'm down to crunch time though so I have got to pick up the pace! Hope everyone is doing well in their studies!

    REG 8/15/14 (73); 11/13/14 (82)-expired 🙁
    AUD 5/30/15 (80)
    BEC 11/28/15 (75)

Currently trying to pound through the final 30% of REG today so I can have a full week of MCQ's. It sure helps that I took B-Law I and II in college and still remember most of this lol.

I won't lie. It was brutal and I went in with my confidence lowered because of working SIMS this morning that I hadn't done yet. Note to all of you–Practice your SIMS and know them well!!! The MCQ was okay. The AL was useless for me. I left 1 hour and 45 minutes for SIMS and used the entire time. It's really a toss up. It could go either way. Thank you all for the support and encouragement. It was greatly appreciated and good luck to everyone testing this week!

    Quick question –

If you exclude a gain on the sale of a primary residence, its not supposed to be taken off the basis of the next property, right?

Phil Yaeger did this at the end of one of his examples, and I think he was confused ($250k gain was excluded and he said it should come off the basis of the newly purchased $210k house, reducing it to 0). I can't find any case in which this would be done. I thought that's the reason its an exclusion and not a deferral.

    Am I missing something?

Having never done tax is my life the first 2 chapters of Becker REG seems very easy to me.

Unlike other parts I just apply things in the book to real life situations and memorize it very quickly.

    FAR - 76*, 73, 85
    BEC - 69, 72, 78*, 80
    AUD - 72, 71, 90
    REG - 71, 74, 85

    AFTER 3 YEARS I'M DONE!!!

I just took REG exam this past weekend. I have taken it previously and failed by a couple of points (very disappointing). I'm not sure how to feel about the exam. I didn't think the MCs where very difficult and the questions were very similar to what I studied in the Becker software. When I got to the SIMs I felt like they were difficult. And now I'm second guessing everything I did in the exam.

Did anyone had a similar experience with the REG exam recently?

    FAR – 8/10

    BEC – n/a

    AUD – n/a

    REG – Waiting on results

syoung123: The excluded gain does not affect a new residence basis (unless the example is for obsolete law before 1997).

    REG 08/25/14 82
    FAR 11/25/14 80

I'm an idiot. *THOUGHT* I'd schedule my exam for today at one and then realized I never got a confirmation. I'd written it on my calendar but never scheduled it. UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH! Thank goodness the testing center had a spot open on Weds. BUT…I'm taking BEC on Aug 26th and even though it's 2 days, it's still a loss of study time. I am soooo over REG. It's the devil.

    FAR - 87 2/18/14
    AUD - 84 4/2/14
    REG - 87 7/23/14
    BEC - 78 8/26/14

I'm finally an *official* CPA - TX

yourmomsaCPA: It is meant to be. For me it feels like 2 days for REG more important then for BEC.

YourMom: that's enough to provide a mini-stroke! Glad it worked out. I suppose that's the good thing about being ultra-paranoid when it comes to the exams. I always check and re-read the confirm. I just know the AICPA is after me….my car died the morning of BEC….I'm positive it was the dirty extended arm of the AICPA

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?
