@Amor Sorry I took the lazy way with that one…

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

@yassy Thanks. I haven't found anything on the becker materials that explains this topic directly that's why I was confused.

    Thanks, Amay.

2 more to go for me.

And it's your last one dear!

78 so far is the highest score I've made. (Thank God!)

I need to get out of the mid-70 danger zone on my next sitting.

I am aiming to score at least 80 so I guess I need to over-study REG.

namaci this is for you question on “when a daughter purchases stock from her father on January 1, 2013 and later she sells the stock on June 30, 2013 at a profit what basis should she use for tax purposes?” This is from Special Property Tax Transactions.

    – Gains resulting from related – party sales are fully taxable and I believe her basis will be the sale price – Her new basis.

    – Losses resulting from the related party are treated in a similar manner to Gift tax rules (Dual- basis Rules) Her basis will remain the same as the old Basis of when the asset was bought.

Here you have to keep in mind the IRS wants to Max your gains and minimize your losses.

Commercial paper isn't that bad once you have understood it and done a good amount of practice questions..

When I first did it I hated it ! But I buckled down and just did a number of practice questions and read why I got it wrong etc. after that It started making more sense and I wasn't as put off when I saw these. In fact I really wanted to see some in the exam since I got good at it.

So it has been a while since I last posted. I did take REG on 5/29 but did not pass (got a 62). This may sound crazy but I was happy with the 62 even though I didn't pass. So I asked the question, should I move on or should I just schedule to retake REG? I was told to go back to REG and study more so I can pass it this next time. So that is what I plan on doing. Of course, gotta find the money first but as I speak trying to re-arrange the online schedule for the study materials I am using. Kind os excited but nervous too.

    BEC 1/4/14 48
    AUD 5/29/14 62

Question. Is there anybody in New Castle, DE that is studying for CPA that would be interested in getting together to study? I find that when I am in “teaching mode” that is when I know I understand the information. IJS

    BEC 1/4/14 48
    AUD 5/29/14 62

Jeff has a rule about forming outside study groups from the forum, but you can definitely use your “teaching style” on here. I'm sure by the end of June we're all going to be full force quizzing each other. That's where I learned the majority of my FAR concepts really well.

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

Been doing my flash cards and I think they're really helping. Probably going to add at least the NINJA Multiple Choice for REG to start. Also…just moved my last two exams to August 26 and October 24. Was just not feeling like I was going to have enough time to go through all the material thoroughly. I'm hoping that, thanks to my extra business units I had to take in the fall, and previous grade in cost accounting, that I have a little bit better footing for BEC than all the other exams.
