    1bentcpa My exam is in approximately 12 hours, so I kind of have to think about the materials then!! I just got back from a walk. It's hard to put this stuff down. I keep feeling like I need just one more piece….

    I wont lose any credit, my first exam was in Aug 2012 – it's just that I don't want to study REG anymore and this is my last exam!! A person can only take so much of Gearty and Olinto! But I do have a lot of respect for those who are studying, while working full time (I'm flexible), with young children and some are single parents. That's rough, but its also determination and a constant attack. These boards do help out a lot. Very humbling.

    Well have a good night! 🙂

    Ok, so I took the exam this morning and I don't know. I truly don't know. I have no clue as to how I did. The exam questions did not seem to get too more difficult and the sims were alright. I needed to some research on one or two of them. I felt like I spent a lot of time studying some really difficult concepts for me and they were never asked on the exam.

    So…. I don't know. It probably sounds odd, but I have no real feeling one way or the other. More of a fear that I did not pass because I did not “catch” those little innuendos they like to throw into their questions. My sim was doable – there was one that caught me off guard (I hope that is the one that does not count), and the research question I found in about 2 minutes (lucky). It worries me that I feel this way. Oh well. Eleven days to go! If I fail again, I have to find different material b/c I know Becker inside and out. :-/

    @Heidi-o – Nice to hear you made it back alive 😉 .. The items you over studied for could have just as easily been on that test. It is like throwing darts blindly. Back on the grind for you?

    @heidi-o, I've heard people knowing everything about individual and getting barely any questions on that – and you'd think that's a huge portion of what they'd want you to know! it always seems like you study for the “wrong” stuff, however, it just because the stuff you DO know and studied for comes easily, so you tend to focus more on the stuff you had troubles with on exam day.

    I take mine in 6 days and feel I KNOW NOTHING AHH! I am doing Wiley MCQ over and over and feel like I keep learning new stuff! I'm gonna bring in my Wiley book to work and do MCQ as much as I can all week. My manager gets in over two hours after I do 😛 Maybe I'll even head in early this week. Sigh.

    REG is so much harder than AUD.

    Samdiego You could be right in the fact that some of the m/c questions I breezed through because I had seen some of them many times (or similar). I have done well over 3,000 questions in preparation for this exam. My flash cards, I know most of them by heart (almost all of them) but I still get hung up on the stupid wording in the questions. Kind of like the ones that give you all of this information and if you read the question, it has absolutely nothing to do with it!! Like: Angela is a school teacher is she bought $32 for color supplies, $150 for notebooks and some chalk for $5. What is the maximum deductible amount for school supplies for someone who qualifies as a teacher? (that wasn't one of the questions, but you get my idea). Is the answer that Angela gets to deduct $187 or is the answer that an individual that qualifies gets to deduct a maximum of $250?

    I'm just hoping for a passing grade. I was fortunate enough to not get one of the sims that some people have that just asks for all these calculations and some people are just throwing in numbers hoping for something to stick!! If this doesn't work out, I have to find new material. The good news is that I will know by the 21 and if I don't pass, I will have 6 weeks to work on a million questions and take the exam the first of Oct (Holy cow! 4x? Let's not think that way).

    Just keep working on your problems and make sure that you can find your way around the regs fairly well to check some of your answers. I think working on a brutal amount of m/c helped to give me time on the Sims.

    I'm going to take the next 10 days off!! (from studying! Which means Taco Tuesday!!!) :-p

    Hello Ninjas,

    I need help with this question. Can anyone explain to me why the answer is D ?

    I would have thought 8 hours is earn income in 2011 48 In 2012 and the remaining 8 would be in 2013. Please help 🙂

    Alayna is a voice and singing coach. She is a calendar-year taxpayer using the accrual method of accounting. On November 2, 2011, she received $3,200 for a 2-year contract for 64 one-hour voice and singing lessons beginning on that date. The contract provided that Alayna give 8 lessons in 2011 and 48 lessons in 2012, with the remaining lessons to be given in 2013. What is the amount that Alayna should report on her 2012 return?

    A. $0

    B. $2,400

    C. $3,200

    D. $2,800

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

    I believe this is the mode of thinking

    Advance payments for services – Generally, you report an advance payment for services to be performed in a later tax year as income in the year you receive the payment. However, if you receive an advance payment for services you agree to perform by the end of the next tax year, you can elect to postpone including the advance payment in income until the next tax year. However, you cannot postpone including any payment beyond that tax year

    Begnning unearned: 3200

    2011= $3200 * (8/64) = $400 total

    2012 = remainder = $2800..
