LoveEventingMemberJust joining this thread. I just took my first two live classes this weekend for REG. I have to say, I'm already LOST! I do not have tax experience and only took 2 tax classes in college (got C's in both). The last class I took was in Spring 2009, so I'm really worried about being able to handle this information!
I think part of it is that the review course I'm taking is not structured logically. I bought the 2013 Wiley book as a supplement to my class, so hopefully that will help. I also have old Yaeger lectures that I'm going to try and use along with the updated Wiley book.
I just took FAR on Monday, and fairly confident that I failed. I really hope I can stay motivated to get this thing done.
BEC - 68, 76
AUD - 90, 91
FAR - 63, 83
REG - 55, 79FINALLY DONE!

AnonymousInactiveHello everyone, this is my first post!
I just took REG yesterday and walked out feeling like crap. I spent a little over 150 hours studying for it and thought I was quite prepared. However, I felt so lost on the 2nd and 3rd testlets and especially on the SIM! On one task, I had no idea what it was even wanting me to do (over a topic not really mentioned in my study material and so I am hoping this one was a pretest one), and on another task, it asked about something that I completely forgot the formula for! Right now I'm just praying for that magic 75!!!
@Stokey45: I had about 1 hour on the simulation as well. The tasks were extremely difficult and I did not have time to complete two of them. I started it but left about 1/2 blank for each of those two. I've talked to friends who have taken REG and passed and they told me they all walked out feeling like they did terrible. One friend told me there were a couple of tabs she didn't have time to get to and obv still passed (with a 75), so there's definitely hope for us both!!

barelystayingsaneMemberI would not listen to Gearty about questions on the second part of R4. I found the testing of this section to be closer to the weighting the AICPA provided, rather than the 2-3 questions Gearty said. (If that is considered disclosure of content, someone let me know, and I will delete it. I wouldn't think it is, since the AICPA released those weights. Nevertheless, I'm always overly paranoid about what is or isn't considered a disclosure.)
Looking at just the 72 multiple choice questions in REG, 15-19% could range anywhere from 11-14 questions. You don't want to feel unprepared for at least 11-14 questions.

Heidi-OMember@WestonM I like to get information from the source. Since they are preparing the exams, hopefully, they will test on that material! Still a pretty broad range of information. If I were you, I wouldn't just read what was covered, I would go through that section and get a decent idea of what is going on. For me, I paid for the Becker Flash Cards and they have 63 cards for just THAT section of Chapter 4. So if it's not a big deal, why did they send me this ridiculous number of cards for it? I would probably make sure that you read through that section and get all the little nuances. I don't know how long it would take for you to do a written outline that made sense to you – but it may not be a bad idea. If you keep looking at the document from the AICPA, take a look at Section III Federal Tax Process, Procedures, Accounting and Planning – you may find some more things in there that you need to pay some attention to. I would use the AICPA outline as my guideline for Chapter 4. I wouldn't over do it, but I would be aware of the areas that they tell me to.
I. Ethics, Professional and Legal Responsibilities 15 – 19%
III. Federal Tax Process, Procedures, Accounting and Planning 11 – 19%
