@CPAwanabee You HAVE to do the sims! They are not like the other exams – at least to me. The research material is not as easy as FASB. I would do the Wiley if your Becker expired. It's odd, and it may be because I have the DVD versions of Becker, but when mine expired, I still had the tests and material. Is this because you have an on-line version?

If you look at the posts from some people that have taken the exam, they were caught off guard by the sims. It could be because the code is not as easy to research as FASB, it could be because some of the sims are the actual tax forms and they look a little alien (at least on my practice sims, they are) – I don't know. But definitely prepare for the sims on this one!! At least take a browse through… 🙂

@WestonM and @Icanhazcpa I would look at the information contained in this document from the AICPA as to what they are testing and what percentages. That may help you make your decision. It includes all areas of the exam. Reg starts on page 20. It's as of January 2013.

thanks for the response… I will check wiley sim just really dont generally like how they set it up, i feel like becker has a better set up for practice simulation but thats life i guess… @Heidi-O, my becker expired a little while ago but as long as you dont close the program it will let you continue to use it, however my computer died without me realizing it and there went that 🙁 just so upset I didnt have time to do any of the simulation on becker before that happened, i guess wiley will have to do.

    Guys

Does anyone know how many of the SIMS could be pretest? When I took REG on 7/8/13 I did not have enough time to finish my SIMS. I am confident I nailed the research SIM but I was rushing and left two blanks on one SIM and did not even attempt another. I left myself one hour for the SIMS but that was not enough time for me. Not to mention that they were killer hard! If I did not receive at least a 75 then I will plan more time for the SIMS next time.

I'm retaking REG on Friday morning. Trying to schedule my last week of studying. Focusing on Corp. Tax and Ind. Tax more heavily this week. I'm scoring in the mid-80s on my WTB Practice sessions, but I was scoring in that range my first time around. Feeling like I have a more solid grasp on the material this time around. I hope I'm right. Good luck to all of you studying!

Just joining this thread. I just took my first two live classes this weekend for REG. I have to say, I'm already LOST! I do not have tax experience and only took 2 tax classes in college (got C's in both). The last class I took was in Spring 2009, so I'm really worried about being able to handle this information!

I think part of it is that the review course I'm taking is not structured logically. I bought the 2013 Wiley book as a supplement to my class, so hopefully that will help. I also have old Yaeger lectures that I'm going to try and use along with the updated Wiley book.

I just took FAR on Monday, and fairly confident that I failed. I really hope I can stay motivated to get this thing done.

    BEC - 68, 76
    AUD - 90, 91
    FAR - 63, 83
    REG - 55, 79

    FINALLY DONE!
