    heidi and silliepanda-

    thanks for the encouragement!

I ended up taking the day “off”, we went to the park and did clean up house work (which believe it or not, is extremely relaxing for me). A friend came over for dinner and some coal roasted burgers did me nicely. I know I “know” enough to get by, i'm just trying to calm myself and do another 600 questions by wednesday. I'll keep updating nightly I hope.

Good luck everyone going in the morning, let us know.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

Took my Becker Final Exam #1 yesterday – here were my results:

    Testlet 1: 75%

    Testlet 2: 83%

    Testlet 3: 79%

    Sim 1: 75%

    Sim 2: 80%

    Sim 3: 90%

    Sim 4: 80%

    Sim 5: 100%

    Sim 6: 78%

I hope those are promising scores. I have yet to begin my review phase, but I have a solid 2 weeks to review until my test on the 25th. These scores are pretty consistent with what I got on Becker Final Exams for FAR and AUD. Let's hope that's a good sign!

    Happy studying everyone.

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 99
    REG - 85
    BEC - 10/4/13 (Waiting)

So I contacted the AICPA last week to get clarification on the questions about 2012 vs. 2013 amounts that some of us have been discussing. This is their response. While not *100%* clear it makes me feel a little better. I will know a few of the specific numbers that we have been talking about (gift amount, etc.), but I'm definitely going more conceptual. (Hope that doesn't somehow bite me in the a$$!) Just wanted to share this with you guys in case it helps anyone else.

    ****************************************************

    Dear Ms. NXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the AICPA regarding your upcoming REG Exam.

Materials eligible to be tested include federal laws in the window beginning six months after their effective date, and uniform acts in the window beginning one year after their adoption by a simple majority of the jurisdictions. We do not test (or expect candidates to memorize or know) amounts that change often with inflation or otherwise. We test concepts and the application of concepts. If rates or tables are needed for a question or problem, we provide them. Changes to the Internal Revenue Code are tested beginning six months after the effective date

We hope you find this information helpful.

    Sincerely,

    Examinations Team

@CPAForeigner I wish you well!! I can see your predicament. When I pay for the exam, it has an expiration date (granted, I think it's 6 months out, but it will drop and you have to pay again). You, on the other hand, get the added price of flight! Well, you've already seen BEC and it is not changing any material – so hopefully that will go well. As far as REG, you've put a lot of time into it! It's hard to take these exams when there is a lot riding on them, but you have the focus and determination – you can do this!!

@DJN My response was a little longer with a little bit more detailed information but essentially the same. The only thing that worries me are the areas that people say that they are being tested on that they did not remember seeing in the review material. I know Becker added a few pages to their stuff that I downloaded. I guess I just need to make sure I know everything inside and out to carry me through the questions that may be a little bit more obscure or “out of the blue”!!

    FAR Aug 2012 79
    AUD Oct 2012 84
    REG Aug 2013 87
    BEC Jan 2013 80

Question on the items that normally apply to the 2% floor: For AMT are those eliminated completely or can you use the amount above 2%? So, if you had income of $100,000 and miscellaneous deductions of $5,000 can you use the $3,000 or is the entire amount disallowed?

Also (just to be sure I'm thinking about this the right way because I'm on overload at this point!), the personal exemption and standard deduction are both disallowed for AMT — correct?

@HeidoO – I know what you mean about the things being tested that we have no materials on… I'm just hoping those are pretest!

@icanhazcpa @Heidi-O my apologies yes the medical expenses exceeded 7.5% AGI was $500 and $250 for miscellaneous itemized deductions exceeding 2% AGI. Thanks so much for the help and again sorry about my errors.
