@icanhazcpa I did not learn phase outs for each individual item as they are indexed for inflation and change annually. I do know the amounts for the AMT, the Itemized Deduction 3% penalty, the standard deduction rates etc. I went by what the historical questions were asking (which are the test bank questions) and used those as my guide. Good Job for understanding this and being able to move forward!!
I am so tired right now. But I have so much more to do!! Time to take a walk!! I finished typing up my handwritten notes (yeah!) and I can now just charge through the rest of the material!!! (Again.)

ParticipantTerribly frustrating day. My last big push (supposed to be 6 hours) before my exam thursday. My intention was to finish my ninja note re-writes (done!) get beautiful green check boxes on my cpa excel (done!!!), take the simulated exam (done), and some more questions after that with wiley.
Unfortunately our 15 month old decided to not sleep a wink, literally the worst night I can remember, and i have been up with him since 2 a.m. on 3 separate occasions (this was worse). He and I have been sick since Tuesday, and my wife finally came down with it full on. I had to handle everything today (wife and baby were going to leave for the day). I did get those notes done, and did finish all sections, but failed my review with a 72%… i'm a little beat up. What get's my goat is that these questions were all found within the sections, nothing new and exciting like wiley throws at me. I'm not quite sure where to go other than to wake up and retake the simulated exam in the a.m. and keep grinding away with the Wiley and listen to the audio every day and ensure to take Wednesday completely off ( I still have to work) and ensure I sleep well and am well hydrated and nourished.
Encouragement would be nice, this has been a damn hard 10 week process (1st exam, 120+ hours in),

Member@tomq04 I have the utmost respect for you. You have a family, small child, work and you are trying to get through all of this with a flu. Anyway that you can call for back up? Someone to take your son for a day of play? I am sure that once your body beats out this cold/flu in the next day that you will be back up in fighting shape! What matters is that you are keeping up with the work – diligently I might add – as a dad, a husband and CPA studier to boot! Just don't make yourself even more sick than you already are.
Have you tried reading your lecture notes to your son when he wakes up in the middle of the night? I have seen several posts that state reading the material puts them straight to sleep! May want to try playing your lecture tapes in his room. 😉
It's the first exam, it's nerve racking and rather intimidating. You sound very prepared. You just have to get rest and beat this thing to death!!
If it gets worst, there is nothing shameful in moving a test date. No one will think any less of you. They will just think that you are trying to balance your life and career – which it sounds like you are doing!!
You WILL do this. You WILL win!

Member@tomq04 … When I think about slacking off or saying I'm too tired .. I think of people like you in your situation. I give you great credit and admire you for everything you are “juggling”. I hope you and your family feel better soon! For the studying part … Heidi-O's idea of lecture tapes in his room sound interesting. Not sure if you would record your own, but maybe the baby will be soothed by your voice .. or get so bored like candidates do and just fall asleep haha. I think the reason you didn't do great on your practice is your exhaustion. Hopefully you can get a good night's rest and feel re-energized today. Again as Heidi-O stated, there is NOTHING wrong with rescheduling. If you feel you need another week do it, because you don't want to look back and be like .. If I just had a few more days I could have done this (but you won't think that BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO PASS!!!!!!!!!!).
From everything you told us, you are strong and will get through this. Good Luck!!!
So, yesterday my fiancée went to look at suits for our wedding that is next month and came home with two beads for my bracelet since he knows I am so stressed out over this 🙂 Made my day and made me realize after all he may finally see how much I want this.
Ok ok to my study plan for the day ….. LAST REVIEW DAY!!!!! Guess I will just pound through as many MCQs as possible. Feeling good on all of taxation. Weak areas I need to focus on seems to be contracts, commercial paper, and surety. Good Luck everyone. Don't give up!!! (this is what I tell myself daily).

MemberCan someone clarify something for me?
I think I read on here that the TBS will all be tax related. Is that true??
I've been doing MC questions in wiley test bank, but I've only been doing tax related MC's. Should I be doing law and ethics MC too? I'm using Yaeger and I think he said not to do them… Reg in two weeks and I'm freaking out!!
