So I took REG in August and failed and am taking it again in October. Is it correct that the threshold for the deduction of Medical expenses is now 10% of AGI instead of 7.5%? When will this start to be tested? A month ago when I took the test I was still using 7.5%. Ugh I am confused which one will be tested! Also, so I am guessing that means there is no longer a difference between the medical expense deductions for AMT?

I think all knowledgeable people r done with the exam, no one wants to chat about REG anymore and people like me ( who have no experience with REG) are only left.

For 2013 the medical deduction is 10% instead of the 7.5% (2012).

No one really sure when that is going to be implemented but I assume they will they you what year it is during the question.

If no year is given, I would use the 10%.

As for the AMT since medical deduction is 10% you dont have to do anything with it.

@Qlad Haha. That is understandable…I am pretty sure when I am done I will no longer want to talk about this either…

@kevlee Thanks for the help. That is a good suggestion to look for the year that the question mentions.

@Qlad……you you provide more detail on what you are looking for? S/L depreciation, accelerated? Are you looking for depreciation tax shield? Perhaps page R3-27-30 in Becker book would be helpful for what you are looking for? Good Luck!!

It amazes me now that I am studying for this exam for the second time, how many details I missed the first time around. Hopefully that will make the difference in getting a passing score this time!!

    Hi everyone,

On pg. 29 of the Ninja Notes for Reg, it lists the items not deductible + items not counted as income on Schedule K. Does this refer to “ordinary income?” Because when I look at the form Sch. K, these items listed are presented in the form.

    Also,

    GUARANTEED PAYMENTS

% Share of Ordinary Partnership Income (Loss) from K1

    + Guaranteed Payments

    <% share of 179 expense>

= Self Employment Income subject to self-employment tax

I thought my share of partnership income is passive activity income to me, is it self employment tax as presented here? Are they subject to more taxes? (like ordinary income tax)

    Thanks! 🙂
