I have the 2013 Ninja Notes, yet Im assuming they have been updated since I purchased them in May. Can anyone tell me if this is true, do I have to repurchase for the updates? Or is there a comprehensive list of updates out there for freee?

@gim- email Jeff… I got my original ninja notes in May/June and I had to get an update from Jeff is July. it specifically had the words Regulation – July Update if its the revised edition. If yours don't say that on the cover, you need an updated version.

Hopeful this time around.... Back after a 2 year break!!

    BEC - Feb 2013 78!!
    FAR - May 2013 76!!
    REG - 70! 71! 80!!
    AUD - Oct 2013 79!!

    FINALLY DONE!!

    Thanks guys,

I have emailed Jeff a couple of times now, and he hasn't been responding…what are my other options? Are the updated notes like Becker, where it is just a list of what changed on certain pages? If so, that's all I will need. Is that provided on his website anywhere?

Thanks again! and good luck guys!!

If the front page of your NINJA notes say” Regulation-July Updates” then you should be good to go. The changes are made throughout the notes. There is not a separate page with 2013 updates. Hope this helps.

Spencer, who itemizes deductions, had adjusted gross income of $60,000 for the current year. The following additional information is available for the year:

    Cash contribution to church

    $ 4,000

Purchase of art object at church bazaar

(with a fair market value of $800 on the date of purchase)

    1,200

Donation of used clothing to Salvation Army

(fair value evidenced by receipt received)

    600

What is the maximum amount Spencer can claim as a deduction for charitable contributions in the current year?

    a. $5,000

    b. $5,200

    c. $5,400

    d. $4,400

The answer is a. $5,000. The thing I do not get is the church bazaar, I assumed it was just a store Spencer bought art from. Otherwise the 50%AGI of $60,000 is $30,000 maximum. The cash is under the maximum so you get the whole amount of 4000. so the Donation of clothes which falls under general property it lower of basis or FMV so they only give FMV so its 600. So right here I'm up to $4,600 in deductions. This is where I mess up because its not one of the answers. The problem answer gives that the purchase of art at church bazaar is the excess paid over FMV so 1200-800 = 400. $4,600+400 =$5,000.

Can anyone explain why purchasing from church bazaar would be charitable? How would you know if you were purchasing something from a charity? How would I be able to determine if a given purchase was related to a charitable contribution? “church bazaar” sounds like it could be a store or something. At least if it was capitalized like Church Bazaar I might be able to determine that it was from a real church because it would then be a pronoun.

@mscdngal Commercial Paper and AMT are also the subjects that just refuse to digest in my brain. We can hope that everybody has trouble with these topics…. My brain is rejecting both of these topics. Commercial Paper because I have never in my business or personal life seen or dealt with a check endorsed by 5 different people with special, qualified and restrictive endorsements, so when I get a question with a back of a check pictured such as this, my brain is like really, does this really happen in the real world? It might help if I actually thought that this happened, then I could take it more seriously. I'm sure it does, I just NEVER have see a check endorsed like this. AMT my brain is rejecting because isn't tax complicated enough that at the end of it when you just think you have familiarity with all the rules, at the end of the chapter they say wait if AMT applies then none of that stuff matters and you have to learn an entirely different way to calculate tax. AMT requirements just seem to fly in the face of reason ability so my brain is just not wanting to release itself to the idea of AMT.
