    i heard that there is no longer a medical add back to AMT due to the change in the AGI floor… can anyone confirm? I heard that there will only be an AMT medical adjustment for people ages 65 and over because they can still use the 7.5 floor.

    @MrsBing

    The problem with me too is that I am getting mixed up with everything….

    @ryleehaid

    The whole 2013 updates… I am not worries about since I highly doubt that anything specific will be on the exam. But what do I know.. I will keep you posted after my exam as to if there were specific 2013 materials on there.

    I am just starting my studies for today….I feel like Chapter 8 of Becker, is just filled with all different kind of material and just shoved it in there…. I think I will just read through once, do questions once. and call it a day.

    Does anyone think it's better to concentrate more on SIMs than MCQs during the last few days of review?

    I have a question on a MCQ in Becker based on everyone's favorite subject….AMT. Here is the MCQ:

    Robert had current AGI $100,000 and potential itemized deductions as follows:

    Medical expenses (before percentage limitations)……$12,000

    State Income Taxes……$4,000

    Real Estate Taxes……$3,500

    Qualified Housing and Residence mortgage interest……$10,000

    Home equity mortgage interest (used to consolidate debt)……$4,500

    Charitable contributions (cash)…..$5,000

    What are Robert's itemized deductions for AMT?

    The answer is: $17,000 ($2,000 that exceeds 7.5% + $10,000 qualified housing interest + $5,000 charitable contributions).

    My question is why aren't taxes part of the itemized deductions? Don't they fall within “PANICTIMME”? I'm thinking that it has something to do with the fact this question states his AGI amount and that is now our base. Not sure….any help would be greatly appreciated!

    @will it ever end

    I think its because Taxes are “add back” to regular taxable income so its not an I/D per AMT.

    What you wrote “($2,000 that exceeds 7.5% + $10,000 qualified housing interest + $5,000 charitable contributions).” is not correct as the $2,000 that exceed 10% of AGI for medical expenses

    Yes, it should be exceed 10% of AGI for medical expenses but Becker's homework still uses 7.5%………I think? Either way, that answer is right out of Becker's “answer response”

    Taking REG in three days. I'm scoring in the 90's for Professional and Legal Responsibilities, 70's for Business Law, and 80's for Tax. I'm getting really worried about the Sims on this one. I'm ready for this to be over.

    FAR 05/31/12 - 69 08/22/12 - 72 11/30/12 - 78
    AUD 05/21/2013 - 77
    REG 08/29/2013 - 77
    BEC 10/17/2013

    Ethics - Nailed it.

    Guys, I have the 2012 Becker materials, and have my exam scheduled in October. As far as REG is concerned, are they testing on 2013 tax laws, or still 2012? I am not sure because the Becker website says that my 2012 materials are still good, but they also have a listing of all the changes on their website as well. For example, the on the topic of deductible medical expenses, 7.5% of AGI is deductible in 2011, but that number changed to 10% in 2013. Should I be memorizing the 2013 numbers or the 2011 numbers that are listed in my 2012 version of Becker? thanks for the help
