I'm confused what the itemized deduction limit is for the exam I'm taking next Saturday. I have seen that it's 10% for 2013, but 7.5% for 2012. Should I assume the test is going to ask me about 2012 rates?

The Wiley book (REG 2013) does not even mention the 10%, but I have seen other test takers here mention it.

    Thoughts?

    BEC: 7/15/13 - Passed! 83
    AUD: 5/20/13 - Passed! 84
    REG: 2/25/13 - 68, 4/8/13- 74 - You have got to be joking. Retake: 8/31/13
    FAR: 11/29/12 - Passed! 82

Pregnant and studying- due with my first (baby boy) in November.

@Mrs.Bing Hate to tell you this, but AMT (corporate or personal) makes for great SIM material.

AMT is a completely convoluted and painful piece of crap.

    Hi everyone,

REG is the first section that I am taking (will be taking it next Friday). I have been using Becker and supplementing where I can with the Wiley TB.

I am not sure if this has been address yet, but due to the change in the medical deduction floor, does this at all change the process for calculating AMT?

I am a bit confused with calculating AMT, does anyone have any suggestions or explanations that could help?

Hoping to god I pass this test, and also, not sure what to expect as this is the first one I am taking. Any advice is appreciated (especially on SIMS)!!

when in doubt, if the preference or adjustment offered will increase taxable income, just include it. i did a few practice sims with gleim to see how they would present questions, not really if i could answer the sim right. i focused most of my time on MC's. if i knew the mc's then you would apply the concepts tested there on the sims.

i feel that gleim sims and gleim mc's are much harder than what i saw on the exams. gleim mc's i was getting low 80's and on the sims that i would do, if i scored a 60 i was pretty happy with myself. where i went to school though most people used becker and they all have great things to say about that.

on the bright side, you probably won't get a business law sim. nobody in my grad program had a law sim. but yea UCC, contracts, paper is a pain.
