    Hi guys!

So I am taking REG in a few days, and I am having hard time struggle to remember information in tax, specifically with all the deduction amount, for example: home mortgage interest up to $750,000 deduction, $10,000 max. on state and local taxes… Is it worth my time to remember these amount?

Which area in tax would you recommend me to focus on in these last couple days?

    Thanks!

Hi, I am also going to take REG next week before the window closes for Q1. I would also like to read advices from people who already took it. I'm especially scared with the TBS section since I haven't been practicing that. Btw, what materials are you using for your review? I have Roger, and probably will supplement Ninja for my last week of studying.

Keep hammering out MCQ and some SIMS.

    FAR - 10/3/16
    BEC - 69 - 10/31/16
    AUD - November 2016
    REG - December 2016

@Hank Scorpio, what material did you use for studying REG? Do you think AICPA practice questions are helpful with regards to similarity to the real one?

I took REG last Friday, the 22nd. I used Wiley and Ninja. Take it for what it is worth, but I wouldn't necessarily go crazy over trying to memorize those deduction amounts, maybe knowing Sec 179 would be a good one to know. I found the exam I took hit pretty good on gifts, estates, and c-corps etc. I'd probably focus on your weaker areas, and having a good understanding of c-corps, s-corps, and partnerships.

@G – I referred to the blueprint for REG to kind of get an idea of what would be tested on the TBS section, for instance, individual taxation. Expect the unexpected for the TBS section. I know I used the Authoritative Literature to help me with some of those SIMs. Good luck to both of you!

Today is March 1st, I only have 8 days to study for REG.

I can devote between 12-14 solid hours a day for the next 8 days, to hopefully arrive around 100 total hours.

The Roger REG book has 500 pages in it, and I read at a rate of about 6 pages per hour since I take notes on the side, so I hope to spend 80 hours reading to get through the entire book and 10 hours reviewing and making large poster-board notes – (my mom just got home and she just purchased me some 22-inch wide posterboards), and then spend 10 hours of MCQs. I have passed the other 3 CPA Exams without practicing any SIMS at home, please tell me and let me know if there is a better way to spend these 100 hours at this point, since I have backed myself into a corner with only 8 days left. (I have extreme attention deficit issues and my memory isn't good, so I can only pass CPA exams by studying for 2 weeks at the most, since I forget anything outside of a 2-week range – so it's pointless for me to spend more than 2 weeks studying for anything )

Based on what CH89 said above, I will focus on Gifts, Estates, C-corps, S-Corps, and Partnerships.

I used Rogers. He was great for REG and yes, the questions you see in your test bank are enough. Take your time and really know the material/concepts. Good luck. I'm more of a visual learner so I only used the book when I was really weak in certain areas.

If I had Roger and 8 days, I would cram the videos in 2 days and then spend the next 5 or 6 days just doing MCQs.
Reading the book isn't how I learn but to each their own.

Thank you for the advice guys! I will now spend my last 8 days of studying to review Roger's MCQ's and SIMS. I might actually supplement Ninja since most of the answers I get correctly on Roger is mainly because I memorized them or that they are really familiar with them already.

Also, I read many reviews that Roger may seem lacking on the Reg area when compared to the real Reg test — there were multiple questions on the test that Roger may have not covered in detail. Do you guys agree with this?
