REG – starting to study after time off – looking for motivation & good juju

I have just started studying for REG (today) and am scheduled to sit for it May 30th. Feeling overwhelmed by this and having a hard time focusing.

I took FAR last August and got a 65 after approx 110 hours of study. It hit me hard and although I had already scheduled REG for November, I threw in the towel on studying and took it cold (mainly because I already paid for it.) I got a 60.

I’ve had a very rough tax season at the office and feel a bit defeated. I don’t have support from anyone at work (they all took the exam 20 years ago or more.) They seem to think the test has been dummied down in recent years and don’t understand why I have to study so much.

Any advice for study, tips on actually absorbing information and motivation would be appreciated. . . gifts of good juju are welcome as well.

    Dear bluegirl,

I support you!! In my opinion they key is constant repetition. I don't work in public accounting, so may be some one else who does can throw in his/her 2 cents about time management.

By the way blue is my favorite color..lol 🙂

thanks cpaterminator. I didn't know about this community and plan to come back often. Finding support and understanding has been difficult. The first couple months or so people were curious and positive. But most people don't understand that it can take a year under the best circumstances to pass.

I've also have had a lot of negative and snide comments at work. It has been rough to say the least. Support has been nil (no financial aid or incentives, no study allowed at work, no friendly interest even)

I have committed to having a positive attitude and buckling down and we'll see where it takes me . . .

@bluegirl – do all you can to stay motivated, your work environment doesn't sound the best and once you get the three little letters after your name you can go find a better job!

    Hello bluegirl,

I think it's always important to remain a positive attitute. And be grateful of what we possess. Those tough times teach us more and they will become our wonderful fortune.

    FAR - Passed (11/9/2011)
    BEC - Passed (11/28/2011)
    AUD - Passed (7/17/2012)
    REG - Passed!! DONE!!
Looking for a full-time position now.
