    I am going into my last few days of studying and am trying to plan it out. Should I invest a significant amount of time going through SIMS or focus on the content and MC? For FAR I did not do any SIMS and passed and was thinking about carrying that idea forward.

    Thanks

    My view on the sims is to understand what kind of curveballs and scale they can throw at you. With reg, you may be asked to do an entire depreciation schedule or a couple of them! The questions range from a short research question to what would be a day of work in Public if you had to do it and be accountable for it! I'd say at minimum – do 5 (preferably 15) – read 10 more (preferably 20) – then reflect on what those maniacal examiners may have in store for you.

    I studied a few sims yesterday and it proved to me to be helpful because I picked up some points I forgot about while reading. Especially, the business law. (contracts). Imo, I say keep practicing the sims.

    I dont know if this is possible since I have never practiced sims but my advice (again, if possible) would be to find sims that let you search authoritative language. I dont think there is any point in practicing sims other than trying to get better at authoritative language queries. THAT can make or break you.

    Granted, I passed it in May 2016. But I would concentrate on pass-thru entities and C-Corps. In particular, get comfortable with own- and partnership basis calculations.

    How many Document review Simulations did you encounter? do we know if for this exam those will be the test questions?

    I had two DRS for FAR. I hope they aren't the pre-test questions. DRSs are almost as easy as research questions imo.

    If anything I would say DRSs are easier but more time consuming.

    @SUNNI

    Seems like you got a strategy to approach those DRS sims. Im horrible at them.

    Any advice on how to approach it?

    I take Reg on the 31st, and know half of my sims will be guranteed DRS.

    Keep in mind I have only needed to do this for FAR:

    These sims are likely about time management.

    Do not read all of the supplementary tabs first before tackling the questions.
    I have no idea why people do that.

    Shuffle through all tabs, get a general idea of what information you can find in those tabs then go back to the questions.

    If the first question is about firm A, look for the tab that corresponds to firm A as well as tabs that correspond to to multiple firms.

    Reading all tabs once, looking through the questions, rereading tabs is a complete waste of time.
