Studying individual Taxation today and here is one of the questions.

The Berry family has two children, ages 14 (Wendy) and 16 (Taylor). What is the Filing Status?

I chose Head of Household because it does not state that there is a mother and a father. However, CPA excel states that it if MFJ. Ans this is suppose to be a released CPA Exam question. I figured a single parent with 2 kids would also be considered a family. So if it gives questions like this, am I suppose to assume that the family has a mother and a father?
