I just received my score report from the REG exam I took on 5/21 and I was blown away. I ended up getting a 73 on what was to be my final CPA exam. Now I will lose BEC and retake that some point in the future but that is for another day.
My score report indicated that I was ‘stronger’ on Ethics, Business Law, Individual Tax, and Entity tax while I was ‘comparable’ on Federal Tax and Property tax. I was ‘stronger’ on multiple choice as well but the reason I believe I received the failing score was my simulations which I was ‘weaker’ on.
I’ve seen other posts here that state the score report as being inaccurate but nonetheless, I NEED to get better at simulations. When studying for this exam, I took off of work for an entire week and was able to take detailed notes on each and every chapter, did the multiple choice questions from Becker 2-3 times as well as some from the 2009 edition of Wiley (from the library). I did NOT practice each and every chapter simulation example in Becker as I did not think they were as important as completing the prior year exam examples.
Simply, what can I do to get better at sims?!?! I am planning on re-taking REG mid-july and will obviously focus more time to practice all of those sims. Should I look into purchasing new material (Wiley 2012)?? I’m lost 🙁
Thanks!
