Reading through exam experiences on A71, I’m nervous about the SIMs for REG. Is there anyone who felt they did strongly on the SIMs? Is the best way to prepare to go through Wiley test bank SIMs? Or do I just cross my fingers and hope for a lucky draw for some easy ones?

I’d really appreciate any input on how I should prepare.

BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

Do you have access to any tax software that will let you look at/play around with an actual tax form? I went through and created tax returns for dummy clients and changed the information to match the questions. If you don't have access to that kind of software, I would suggest you go over a 1040, 1065, 1120 and 1120S, along with the form to compute capital gains, I don't remember the number, and a depreciation form.

If I had to guess, I'd say I probably got a Superior on SIMS (not positive though… and I don't know where to see that?)

But I didn't feel great about the MC and got a 91 after feeling good with the SIMS.

My advice is to pray to the CPA gods that you get an easy set of SIMS. There really isn't any good way to prepare for them. Had I not gotten the SIMS I did, I don't think my score would be nearly as high.

I did Sims on Wiley test bank until I couldn't stand them anymore. I thought the test bank sims were really long but you just never know what you will get on the test.

@Kricket… Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I work in corporate and don't have access to any tax software. However, I have the tax forms that Yaeger includes in the handouts and I'll practice going through the forms you suggested.

@WillbeCPA… I'll go all out on the Test Bank SIMs. By the way, passing REG while 8 months pregnant??? You deserve a medal!!! Granted I'm a guy and don't have a clue how difficult that must be 🙂 … but I'll assume that was one heck of an accomplishment! Plus, your future child has some serious tax knowledge already baked in just in case they want to go into accounting one day!

Just do them over and over and over again. I know the Wiley Test Bank online has over 100 simulations so if you have that, you should never run out of sims to do.
