I’m scheduled to take REG for the second time this Friday. Normally I like to take as much time as I need to study to pass one of these, but for the first REG I just wanted to knock it out in 8 weeks. That didn’t work out well at all and I ended up with a 66. So I’ve regrouped and studied the material for another 8 weeks. Today, the Sunday before my Friday exam, I take the Gleim practice exam and I totally bomb it. I got 54, 70, 63, and 52 on each of the testlets. I can never get any indication of my level of understanding with Gleim because I’ll get a 55 on one quiz and a 90 on the next. Would it be worth it to go ahead and reschedule for $75 and a few extra weeks or risk the heartache of failing again and paying another $225 AND starting over from scratch?

Do you plan to take BEC in this window too? If not, then reschedule because you have plenty of time left in this window to take it. If you are taking BEC in this window, then take this week off of work (if you are working), and study like it's a full time job. Ear plugs in, go to the library, cut yourself off from the outside world completely.

I agree with Jennifer. I've moved my REG test 2x already. I even gave up trying to sit for another test this month like I had originally hoped (and worked really hard) to do.

One thought, though, to gauge where you are may be to try the most recent AICPA released questions. Or, do you have access to any other test bank besides Gleim? Maybe try a practice test from another source.

For what it's worth, I took the Gleim practice exam the night before I took Regulation. I got a 68 on the Gleim practice exam and a 79 on the actual CPA exam. Keep in mind that your score is not the percentage you get correct. I used the Gleim material, and I think Gleim incorporates more “difficult” level questions in its test bank and on practice tests.

But if you're not feeling confident, then maybe rescheduling would be a good move.
