I’m creating a FAR Study Tips thread to point people to when they ask “I’m taking REG on ____ … any tips?”

    Please share your tips/advice.

Please Do: Share your tips/advice/study experience

Please Do Not: Write “Buy XYZ Study course” … we can do that in another thread.

Please Do Not: Even hint at exam disclosure “I wished I had studied more____”. Just share tips/tactics on how you studied and your timeline, etc…anything you think would be helpful to someone starting out.

Please don’t post follow-up questions/comments…it will make the thread cluttered and I will delete them so that this thread is only REG Study Tips.

    Thanks for helping future candidates,

    Jeff

My study tips would be as follows:

    1. Purchase NINJA audio and notes. Rewrite those notes at least once and listen to the audio on repeat. Also, read through the notes a few times.

    2. Drill MC questions AND take notes on the MC. Especially the ones you got wrong. Make sure you understand the theory behind the questions. Do so many MC you want to puke!

    3. Re-do MC questions, especially your weak areas.

    4. Re-write the notes you took from your first pass through the MC questions

    5. Practic sims and get familiar with the AL and how to search within it.

    6. Breathe and tell youself you can do it and to read the freaking question come test day!

I believe one important aspect of REG is knowing the definitions to terms. Start making a list of terms and forms you hear in your review lectures an truly make sure you know the definitions. Also, knowing what all the basic tax forms consist of could help for some screwball multiple choice and simulation problems. REG is not light, but it is certainly not all tax numbers.
