Anyone else cramming for Reg? Just finished the material and made a 61 on the practice exam. I’m finding calculations for basis are confusing considering there’s so many different rules. Any of you find a way to navigate that? Exam March 10th and I do not feel ready!

I am cramming as well! I have created a table for basis with a column for Individual, Corp, S-Corp, Partnership, and Est/Trust and I will work problems for each section and makes notes about their rules as I work problems. I have Roger's table to basis/gain/loss rules for property and like kind exchanges that I have added to.

I feel your pain. As I work through a section I'm like, yea, I got it. But when I move onto a different group, I get the basis rules confused sometimes. I am trying to calm down and trust my instincts. I have worked almost 1700 problems and I take REG on Monday and I STILL don't feel prepared. ….This is my first time taking REG.

You really need to know basis inside and out for everything. There's so many ways it can be tested and it's very easy to get them confused, especially between Corps and S Corps. Partnerships are easy because you pretty much use basis for almost all the calculations. The only way you'll really get it down is by working mcq's over and over until it's drilled into your head.
