So I failed REG for the second time. I got a 73 this past November and retook it right away on January 5. I had passed all three prior exams back to back so I think I definitely was both overconfident and burnt out. When I studied for my first retake, I just did MCQs and I think at that point I had started to just memorize the MCQs and not really ‘learn’ the material. The exam was also just really difficult, my sims were a nightmare. I saw a lot of obscure property and equity transactions that I still have no idea where I would find the answer to in my books.
I am looking to retake it at the end of April, after busy season. I’m in audit so my busy season will taper off in March.
Is it worth it to buy new material at this point? I used CPAExcel before, which did me well for the other sections but I know the tax numbers have changed now…. Any advice on this?
