Reg – Opinion needed on my study results

Assuming I am not memorizing etc and I am scoring and average of 85% overall mcq’s and sims is this enough or is the exam much harder? I keep beating myself up thinking I should be scoring in the 90’s. I feel very ready and confident, just worried the real exam is much harder and I need a bigger buffer zone. Thanks to anyone who can provide some perspective.

Funny. I feel the same except my scores are 80 to 90 with Tim G lectures but 60s with Peter O's lectures. Listening to Peter's again but no improvement. I'm in serious trouble.

Yvonne – agreed its hard to gauge. We need someone who has taken the Reg to respond. I test on Tuesday 11/15. I guess it's the luck of the draw in regards to how close your study material is to the actual exam. Either way I am going to study as much material as I can prior to reg-Day. I figure almost half the people pass and if we are scoring high when studying we should at least be in the good half, assuming a fair draw of questions on test day,. When is your exam?

Just wish we can choose our lecturers with the review at that cost. If one doesn't work for us, then maybe another would.

Agreed. I went to a respectable CPE sponsored course today for 8 hours and most of the idiot CPA's knew nothing. I looked around the room and thought if these jokers passed, what the hell am I worried about. I dont mean to sound pompous, just couldn't believe the basic questions these CPA's were asking.

I talked to a director who got his CPA 6 years ago and told me he does not know any of the materials. Just learned to pass and threw everything out. He's a licensed professional – inferred as a knowledgeable professional. Yet, sadly, a lot just go for the 3 letters but end up doing their own thing.

Interesting you are going to a CPE course already. Looks like real dedication:)

Needed CPE anyway, because I am an enrolled agent. The test for that was way harder than any reg exam. It's all heavy duty tax, three days etc. and figured it could only help me prep for reg. Best of luck,. As I said in a previous post, it's a test not a murder trial. Best of luck on the draw. BEC is the monster, Reg isn't that bad. Who can understand cost accounting !

funny how people have different views between peter olinto and tim gearty. i like peter's teaching style better. he cracks a few jokes, and is pretty succinct and straightforward guy.

as for tim..he's a decent teacher, but it's getting on my nerves that he says, “and again” in every other sentence, as if he's repeating something, except he isn't

I like him too. Funny and straight forward. But when it comes to learning all the stuff I need to know to pass anything, I have to go with Tim's lectures. He paces the lectures better and seems to communicate more clearly – emphasizing. The tone, pace, style, everything that catches my attention. Peter is nice but this test is the toughest and nice isn't good enough.

Good Luck!!! Those may be just the nerves! Plus, I felt like I always did well on my practice exams…and haven't passed any exams, so scores on the practices exams and real exams don't have much connections.
