I’m sure I’m missing something here… this just doesn’t add up. MCQ are worth 60% and SIMs are worth 40% as far as I understand. Additionally, tax is supposed to be 60% and B-Law 40%.

From what I can tell, the SIMs are all tax. My review course mentioned the AICPA has historically never tested B-Law on SIMs.

That means that the 40% of the exams on SIMs takes up 40% out of the available 60% for Tax, leaving only 20% of the MCQ’s available for Tax. That’s only 14 questions out of 72 (excluding pre-test and the fact that I know these are very ballpark figures).

Is MCQ that heavily in favor of B-Law?

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

There could be as little as 32% based on the ranges provided. But using 40%, I would expect 48 of the 72 questions to be business law/ethics. (However, this assumes no pre-test questions which could be any topic) That would be 2/3 of the MCQ or 2/3 of 60%, which is 40% of the entire exam. This would leave a full testlet for tax. However, there is also tax process, procedures, accounting and planning, which seems unlikely to be included as a simulation. So now we are at 43%-55% of non-SIM material.

Okay, I'm starting to question my math now. haha. Basically, we know nothing and should study everything. 🙂

Here is the breakdown by part. Don't forget that Ethics/Professional/Legal Responsibilities is half of the 40% people refer to as business law.

Ethics, Professional, and Legal Responsibilities (15% -19%)

    Business Law (17% – 21%)

Federal Tax Process, Procedures, Accounting, and Planning (11% – 15%)

Federal Taxation of Property Transactions (12% – 16%)

    Federal Taxation of Individuals (13% – 19%)

    Federal Taxation of Entities (18% – 24%)

    BEC 81
    AUD 76
    FAR 70, 76
    REG 58, 78! DONE!
