REG NTS expiring, just failed BEC with a 73…

My NTS for reg expires on 2/2 and I’m currently scheduled to take it on 1/15. I’m a little behind with my study plan, and I just found out I failed BEC with a 73.

Should I re-take BEC right away in January and basically blow off REG, or should I take REG as planned and take care of BEC in a later testing window?

The main reason I’m considering taking BEC right away is to pass ASAP and get a confidence boost before I take a break from studying during my first ever busy season as an Audit Associate. So far I’m 0/3. My concern is whether or not the material will be “fresh” enough to justify blowing off REG, also considering the new format and content.

    AUD 8/30 – 62

    FAR 10/15 – 53

    BEC 11/29 – 73

I keep going back and forth, but I think I'm leaning toward taking REG as planned. Thanks for your input!

Is there anyway you could take REG in Jan and then retake BEC in Feb? I supplemented Becker with a Yaeger homestudy to focus on my weaker area Becker Chapter 5. Also listened to Cindy's lectures on Fin Management. It was enough to bump me up to a passing score. I also had made a 73 on my first test.

One thing – don't just study your weak areas review everything. The next test will focus on different areas and if all you do is cover the last tests weaker areas you may not be as prepared as you need to be.

I pretty much re-wrote the Becker text and worked problems. I did not listen to the lectures except for things I was having troble with – Yaeger. Cindy does a good job on Planning and Measurement.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, CPA Journey. I could take BEC in February, but I'm not sure how much studying I will be able to get done during busy season. I might be better off waiting until the April/May testing window if I do decide to take REG as planned.
