When are you taking REG next week?

How are you doing on the MCQs?

What’s your strategy for the last few days?

I am taking REG next Friday (Nov 14). Currently working myself through the first round of MCQs (NINJA), scoring around 70%. I will be done with that by Saturday, and then start random NINJA MCQs i.e. second round – I will have time do about 1,200, spread over 50 hours, in the last 5 days. Hoping I will then be scoring around 75%. No strategy whatsoever for practicing sims at the moment, hoping my knowledge of the content will be sufficient. I don’t feel overly confident yet, but I’m getting there.

@kroko your strategy seems good. I just started studying for REG yesterday and I'm going through the Becker lectures (just highlighting). Then I plan to read the book (highlighted parts) with Ninja notes and do MCQs of each section that I read. I will be sitting for my exam on 11/30 so i guess i'll have enough time to do the MCQs at least twice before game day. Just like you, I'm also an international student with no prior tax education/experience, so let's hope for the best 🙂

I take REG next Thursday (13th). I am currently working on weak areas and doing MCQ's. I had started re-writing notes about a week ago but got off course with that so I only got about halfway through Ninja notes. I feel better this time than I did last time about several areas that were difficult for me. However, I'm still very up and down with the MCQs. Yesterday I went from scoring a 100 on a 10 question quiz, to a 60 on the next. I'm very up and down and that is discouraging.

    REG 8/15/14 (73); 11/13/14 (82)-expired 🙁
    AUD 5/30/15 (80)
    BEC 11/28/15 (75)
    FAR 7/30/16

Taking REG soon as well. For the review, what ratio of study time in tax vs business law would you guys recommend?

Confidence is a prerequisite for success

    FAR - 1/1
    AUD - 1/1
    BEC - 1/1
    REG - Q4

Have Becker, wish I got Roger

I actually scored stronger in BL my first go round. And still seem to know what I learned so I'm going to spend about 20% in review and I will review tax very heavily from here on out.

I am scheduled for REG on the 25th. Just finishing up final lecture in Becker Chapter 8 then it is solid review time with focusing on my weak areas (AMT) and basis and reviewing business law.

@Tax Lady — your scoring sounds like mine in FAR. I was all over the board…..

I am spending 40% BL, 60% tax. Probably should be more on tax, but I don't have time and I have not taken any courses in American BL, so the topic is just as new to me as the tax is.

@2014 I'm also doing Becker lectures. Can you please share your strategy. As in are you just watching lectures and highlighting the book or are you taking extra notes? At the moment I'm just watching lectures and hopefully I can finish R-3 lecture in the next few hours. Then tomorrow morning I plan to review the first three lectures from the book and move on to the next lectures. Let me know if you have a better strategy.

I am watching the lectures for the whole chapter. Then I read the chapter, take additional notes that I missed during the lecture (they talk really fast sometimes) and then do the homework MCQs with SIMS last. For my last two weeks, I will go through my notes, NINJA notes, highlighted notes from the book, flashcards and MCQs. The last few days before the test I do progress tests in multiples of 24 (to simulate the exam) and try other SIMS as time allows. Hopefully this strategy will prevail one last time 🙂

    Good luck everyone!

    Let's do this!

I'm locked and loaded, scoring around 83% on a random NINJA and with about 10 study hours left (which will spend on the airplane to the US, going through my notes). Plan is to take the exam on Friday at 12:30 in NYC, to go bed after 2 big glasses of red wine and the biggest steak I can find, and then start studying BEC for 30 hours before the exam on Monday at 08:30, then fly back Monday around 5 pm. So a rather quick Europe-NYC trip, I would say. And a rather hectic study schedule.

Confidence is on top though, I know I will not feel this good again for a few days, so might as well enjoy it for a little while. I bet REG will be packed with crazy MCQs and endless sims for all of us this week. My approach will be to tackle the MCQs like I'm flippin' burgers at Burger King, and then go mentally strong into the final battle with the sims, like a ninja ready for a 1.5 hour fight with the dragon.

Can't believe I spent 200 hours on REG in the end – my plan was to spend 100!

    REG here I come!

Screw this now I'm going for a walk with my lady, this study plan is TERMINATED!
