Well I hope I took my last test today. I took REG early this morning and have no idea how I did. The multiple choice were very manageable but didn’t seem to get much more difficult – maybe a little more specific but definitely not noticeably more wordy or anything. I finished them in an hour and that includes going back and checking over them. I felt like I either knew them or didn’t and if I didn’t I might as well save that time for researching the SIMS.

Two of the SIMS were really straight forward and I’m confident I got right, two I knew 50%+ and the other two were really obscure. For those two I sort of feel like they are testing your ability to dig into the authoritative literature and find answers. I have no idea how I did on those. I actually had about 30 minutes remaining on the clock but I was getting a headache from the split screen so I called it a day. The only test I knew I passed was AUD. The other two I couldn’t tell and I feel about the same as I did walking out of those. If this had been my first test I would be “sure” I failed, but since it wasn’t I have no idea. Just hoping for that 75.

The silver lining is that if I don’t pass I won’t have to pony up (yet) for that XBox I promised my kids for when Mommy gets through with this thing.

Also, I’ve just been using the Wiley books for these. I think the MC on the exam were easier than the questions in the books but NOTHING can prepare you for the SIMs. Happy studying and examing everyone!!

I hope you're right about the exam having simpler MCQs. I've noticed that on my previous exams but am completely unsure on what to expect. The SIMS are what scare me. I can breeze through MCQs because they only cover a brief topic, but they can throw a whole chapter at me with a SIM. Since you said NOTHING can prepare you…I guess I will keep doing MCQs and only skim the practice SIMS.

I'm sure you will do awesome jjm! When is your test?

I would just become familiar with the research tab. Let's put it this way – I had one very detailed SIM that was on a topic covered in one paragraph in the Wiley book. And we all know the Wiley books go a little overboard with everything (or at least it seems that way to me). Even the Wiley book didn't get into any details about this guy.

Test is tomorrow at 1:30pm. Right now I'm doing 17 MCQ mini quizes to figure out my weaknesses. Then I'm going to start focusing on those topics tonight. I'm doing fairly well overall on the MCQs but again it's the SIMS that will make or break me. For AUD, I relied heavily on the research tab and it was the only reason I passed. Hopefully I will leave myself enough time to utilize that. Thanks for the updateo on your test. I hope mine goes as smoothly although you have absolutely destroyed your exams thus far so I would anticipate you having a much easier time. 🙂

I'm taking Reg Wednesday morning, which will be my first test in the series. Not sure what to expect. I'm doing fairly well on the multiple choice questions (Becker) but wasn't sure if I should focus on the simulations. What do you suggest? Will we need to know all the numbers as in thresholds, exemption amounts, etc for the exam?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the stuff that changes from year to year, but there were definitely some nit-picky questions about items that are relatively static. Maybe those were the “hard” questions that didn't seem that bad because I took a three-day weekend and went through so many MC that they were stuck in my head somewhere??

Also, I'm not sure about Becker as I haven't used it at all. The Wiley book MC seemed harder to me than the actual exam (for all four that I've taken) but the SIMs in the book didn't do a lot to prepare me (same issue for FAR and AUD). Sorry I can't be of more help!

Good luck to both of you!

Not to make anyone panic, but on my last REG exam, I had a question on something that has just recently changed. Had I not knew about the change through reading these sites, I would've been stuck on the question.

I hope I didn't disclose too much. The mods are free to delete my post if I did. But I just need to warn you guys that anything is possible for this exam.

If there's anything I learned from these forums and my previous experience, everything is fair game for REG. Know your stuff and pray to your higher power (if applicable) that the items on the screen on test day are goodies. Luck plays a loathsome factor in this one.

Preparing with Wiley is a good choice for REG. I also take the exam on Wednesday morning and feel a thousand times more prepared.. but even still.. we have absolutely no control whatsoever regarding what questions we get. We can only do our best to get hard testlets and breathe through difficult questions.

(With Wiley, I sometimes wonder if they hired a philosophy or math major to rewrite the logic to the questions in order to confuse the hell out of us.)

I'm ready to knock this one out of the park Wednesday. Are you?
