Hey guys I just took REG back in August but I’m wondering if there have been any changes to the REG materials, aka standard deduction increases ect since August that have now come into effect. I am using Becker materials from 2012 and I have been seeing that the new medical expenses threshold is now 10% up from 7.5% is this true? Are there any other updates? Becker’s website is down and I take REG on Oct. 4.

    Thanks

There are lots of little updates with exemption amounts, phase-out thresholds, extension of credits and deductible items.. etc. Once the site is back up you will need to skim over them.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 94
    REG - 86
    BEC - 86

@Schotime714 There were updates that became effective July 1, so not only will they be effective for your October 4 exam, but they also would have been effective for your August exam.

The website is back up, and it is indeed 10% for medical expenses, which makes it even easier to remember as it's similar to the casualty loss deduction formula.

I'm glad I have been checking this forum as my Becker and Wiley test bank haven't updated it to be 10%.

The free section of ninja notes is individual tax – which is the majority of the changes.

There were some tweaks to other sections as well post-July. Not huge – but they are there.

Jeff, I'm having a problem opening the zip folder once I download it to my computer.

Wow, I'm certainly glad I happened upon this thread.

Take REG tomorrow and haven't looked at the updates…yikes!

So there's no difference now between regular medical AGI limitations and the AGI limitations on medical with AMT?
