I am so embarrassed of myself right now but I don’t have the heart to accept defeat. I did not study well and I have exams in 11 day. I recently lost job so I can study full time for 10 hours. Is there anyone who has been in a situation like this for Reg and I am trying it for the 1st time. I really have to pass this and I cannot go thru this again. Please help and let me know if you think this is still doable. Anyone who has studied reg with no tax experience and passed in a short study time. I am so looking forward to your advice.

@OP Do it, you will figure out there. Study as much as you can, go and sit for the exam. If you pass, great, if not, you will have a good preparation for the next one. As per familiy health… in my point of view, there are times that never will be back!! 😉 follow your intuition. Good luck

@ fsugirl2005 The food thing is so important I am surprised more people don't talk about it. I have lost countless hours due to sugar crashes and eating the wrong thing. Nothing affects my productivity more. Good advice!

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Thanks Monk. I used to be pretty good at managing my carb intake but since I had a baby, things have gotten worse. So now, I'm back on the low carb wagon. I gotta tell you, right now I am craving chocolate badly. I had to substitute it with cantaloupe. 🙁

I wouldn't be surprised if bad food choices contribute to unproductive studying and the hard time many have with their studying. It's not that they can't wrap their mind around the material, but maybe something else is causing the difficulty in focusing. Carbs are good but too many of them can send you into a deep snooze. Although, I do love my pizza, pastas, chocolate, etc…yum. =)

I think I'll go take a trip to the store and grab some of those sugar free Hershey candies or some sugar free gummy bears…lol.

@thirdtrial– if you don't have the option to postpone, I would say go for it, but just keep in mind that REG is a difficult exam for those without tax experience (I say that from my own personal experience). I would focus heavily on the tax section– you are most likely to get SIMS on that area. But make sure to at least read through the law section once.

I would also consider reaching out to your state board of accountancy to see if they can extend your NTS. I know that they have done it in the past for people with medical issues, so if you have sufficient support for your mom's condition, they may extend it for you.

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

    OP –

Sorry to hear about your mom. In the next 11 days I would say :-

    – Focus mostly on the Tax topics as those will be heavily tested on the exam and the SIM are always on Tax.

-Do read B/Law and do some practice questions so you can make educated guesses if needed on the exam.

-Know your Federal securities well as that I understand gets tested on every exam so worth learning and being a master at.

-Learn Circular 230 so that you are very familiar with it as its great questions to pick up marks on in the exam.

Lastly, – Log off Another71 and focus on our mission a head.

    Good luck.

Plenty of people pass Reg with 110 hours of study time or less. It's going to come down to how good you are at studying!

All you can do is try. It's not hopeless.

    Good luck!

Thirdtrial, family is more important than money (CPA) so don't follow Toughkitty's ex partner's advise. whatever you have to do, but make sure you go and take care of mama.
