REG Exam Crashed – Need Help!!

I was scheduled to take my REG exam today and went in armed with an arsenal of information only to leave devastated. All was going well with the exam (not counting the multiple fire alarm tests) and I had 1hr15min left to do my simulations, when I got an error message right before my simulations loaded. I called the testing center staff over and they looked at it some and then called customer service. I waited for roughly 2 hours before they told me I would need to contact prometrics customer service to determine what to do next. Prometrics basically told me they would let me know if they could reinstate in section ID with in 24-48hours. She said it would be dependent on how far along I got in my exam.

What do I do from here? I really don’t want to wait for a whole testing cycle before scheduling again. How does this happen?

    Send an email to candidatecare@nasba.org!

Ive sent them an email before, and a real person actually got back to me.

Prometric also has IT staff who can open a case number for you. They can run reports that tell nasba exactly what happened, and that it was their fault the computer crashed (as opposed to you accidently exited early or something).

So sorry this happened 🙁 The first time I sat for BEC, I didn't get through the instruction screens in under ten minutes and it shut down, and I had to re-apply and wait till the next testing window to retake it.

Look for some other threads on the forum, I know this has happend to a couple people before.

This is why I always stick with the same Prometric Center. When I took AUD for the first time, I couldn't find any spot available at my nearest Prometric Center, so I went to another one. I had to wait an additional 2 hours to take my exam because their computers had a problem loading up my exam. Every time they'd try to open up the test, the computer would crash. They tried moving the exam to a different computer and it crashed that one as well. It was odd. So, I had to wait 2 whole hours before they were able to fix it. It was terrible. Since then, I have always taken the test at the same test center that's close to where I live. I've taken the exam many times there and never once encountered an issue. But when I take it at this different center just once and I ended up with a big problem.

My advice…. if you find a good Prometric center, STICK WITH IT!!

    @CPAMan,

It's funny you should say that. I always book the same prometric site, however, I got a phone call a week before my exam moving my location. Bastards!! The people at this site left a lot to be desired given that they couldn't even operate the phone.

its mind boggling to me that they can't reinstate an exam in this day and age. i accidentally exited out of my sims after only completing 1 and they couldn't recover it for me. I scored a 57 on essentially 60% of the exam. Probably would have passed.

I took BEC last week and the power went out twice while I was in the facility due to a really bad thunderstorm. They rebooted and everything moved on as planned. However, I can't even begin to tell you the type of lapse in train of thought you face when you are in the middle of an exam and you have to take two 15 minute breaks in which there are testing center officials running around and rebooting etc. and people are complaining. It really threw me off my game and took a certain amount of time to get back in to the zone that I was in about midway through the first testlet.

it's sucks…. please keep updating us. I just curious how they will handle this extreme situation.

I live in Orlando and Thanks GOD!!! I never had a bad experience, actually they are very helpful and very nice people; all my peers and friends agree that the experience at the test center has been unique compared to all the cases we heard here.

Good Luck and I hope they get back with you soon enough; under the circusnstances keep positive! everything have a solution in life…

    Whenindoubt,

What location are you taking the exam at? I currently live in Ft. Lauderdale but am in the processes of moving to Sarasota/Tampa area and will be sitting for REG on 8/13 in Tampa, I want to make sure I take the test at a decent center. Thanks.

I think it's disgusting that we have to deal with this problem. First we have to stress over while studying for this test. Then we have to worry about this 18 month time limit to pass all 4 parts. If that isn't stressful enough, we have to worry about these ridiculous computer problems on exam day.

Reading this post made me feel sick. Couldn't imagine this type of fiasco happening to me. My heart goes out to the OP, hopefully you get this resolved and come away with a well deserved passing score.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'll let you know what I hear. It's very frustrating given all the time and money that is put into taking these exams. I just don't understand how a test can be lost, not to mention that I have to wait 24-48 hours until prometrics will respond to me. If that's not favorable then I have to face NASBA and plead my case. It's as if having to take the exams on a POS machine with a 16 inch screen isn't bad enough.

If prometrics tells me one more time how much they completely understand my predicament and they are doing everything possible I might seriously lose my mind.

I'm happy to report that I heard back from Prometrics today and they reinstated my section ID!!! Although it's unfortunate that I have to retake the multiple choice section, I'm relived that I didn't lose this testing period in total.

Now it's back on the grind – My retake is scheduled for 8am Monday morning. I gotta clear my head and focus!

@capthenry33….I confirmed today that the only testing center open in Sarasota, is the one I had a problem with. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again. What are the chances, right?
