I just took REG Exam, and I have to say it is probably the most difficult I have taken. I messed up one of the Simulation tabs completely. One rule affected all the answers on that tab, and I was missing one piece to the rule. Also had the MC portion of the exam focus on a few areas one of them being an area I was weak in. I thought the MC went ok, but the questions got really hard, almost to the point where I felt like I was guessing on several questions. I am hoping that those questions are the ones that do not get counted. I felt this way on the last test and ended up passing, am hoping for another miracle at this point.

If the MCQ sections got progressively harder, that's a good sign. It means you were doing well and you got a more difficult section as a result, but they do compensate for that when scoring the exam. Of course, they not willing to tell us exactly how that's done, but it's taken into account.

Well they probably compensate by not having to get all questions correct and still get credit as if you did, however this will only benefits you if you still get a good amount of questions correct. This is why I am worried, I felt like I had to guess on quite a few. Will see, its going to be a long two months.

They compensate by giving you harder questions worth more points so you dno't have to get as many right to get your 75 points. So there's still a good chance you passed! You never ever know until you see the score 🙂 I'd go ahead and just move on that this point nothing you can do but that anyway 🙁 I took a test today too so I know how hard it is to do that… (move on that is).

Deep breath, it's over for now 🙂

BEC was alright 🙂 I feel less confident than AUD and about the same as FAR, maybe a little less than FAR. It's tough to gauge since it's on all different subjects 🙂 I just hope I passed 🙂

And I'm taking REG next! Looks like we're switching exams 😀

Good luck gabe – looking at your other scores, I'm sure you did fine!

Just a general question, since I'm taking this thing as well in 10 days; is it necessary to know all the exemption amounts and stuff or is a general understanding of the concepts enough? I would imagine that I would not need to memorize phaseout levels for every single deduction item…

Hey I have some questions on REG so this looks like as good a place as any…

I am using Yaeger Homestudy, and I am just about to wrap up Individual Taxation (about 1/3 of the lectures…) I started studying on Monday and I will take the exam on the 18th. Yes I know this is only 3 weeks… I am being flexible with myself on when to take the exam, meaning if I need to push it back I will. However, I want to still have the possibility of bieng in Wave 1. So my first question is, does it seem adequate to make Individual Taxes 1/3 of the lecure hours? Is there that many questions on the exam? I know every exam is different, but is 33% of our score from Individual? Also what other information should I be prepared for? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

Trevor – I would say you want to spend more time than 3 weeks unless you are putting in 40+ hours per week. There is alot of material in individual taxation as well as a crossover to business deductions from schedule C. that is not to say that the exam is going to be 1/3 individual taxation. Yeager actually mentions that the exam focuses more on Corporate and Partnerships since alot of people have more knowledge of individual taxation.

joohj1187 – I can't get into specifics, but this is what Yeager and Becker both teach. Know the fact that there are phaseouts for each item, but don't get crazy with the $ amount of phaseouts. This is what I did and can't complain from that aspect.

Keep in mind every exam is different. You may get an exam that is much heavier in a certain area.

Hmm I may be changing my date then! I'm going to wait a couple weeks and see how much I can get done first, but I'm thinking I'm going to be cramming this with you! See you in the REG forum 😉
