    Hi All –

I am currently studying for my last section – REG and I wanted to get some input from the group on your experiences with this exam. I know it’s really a case by case basis depending on your background, strengths, etc but can anyone share their experiences on REG vs the other parts of the exam? Did anyone find this part the most difficult? If so, in what way? Or if you can share some study advice and ways to tackle, it would be very much appreciated.

So far through 3 chapters of Becker it has been frustrating to keep all of the little rules straight in my head. Flashcards might be the way to go, but I’m not sure.

    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey this is my last section also and I'm going to take it in the end of January 2014. I'm not sure on difficulty but I've heard a good tip: When practicing the tax questions/simulations, don't just get a quick answer, work through the entire problem as the simulations will look for 3-4-5 answers to different parts of the same Sim.

For my own sake, I'm not a tax guy, I'm going to forget everything else accounting and for the next 7 weeks make this my life.

At this point it's 1 and DONE!

    A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
    B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
    F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
    R - 02/01/13 - Passed!!!

    Work Experience - Done!
    Ethics Exam - Boom! Done!

I'm studying for REG, too. What I find confusing is the different rules for carrybacks and carryforwards, when to use adjusted basis vs FMV, when to account for gains and/or losses and when to not.

So I have decided to group all the rules together into one table for each one of these conflicting rules. The Wiley book is good, but doesn't always organize the material in away that is easy to study.

    FAR 82
    BEC 82
    AUD 93
    REG 87

You need to understand every section that will be tested because they can test everything or just several topics. Understanding the concepts is crucial for non-tax and tax. For SIMs, practice doing them because they will help you with the MCQs on the exam and prepare you for the format of SIMs.

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

Know the minutiae very well. There were more than a few questions I know I would've got wrong if not for knowing a minor detail.
