I was hoping someone might be able to help me with the depreciation recapture concept for REG – it’s barely covered in Becker (and not emphasized at all in the lecture), but I’m concerned I might see a question or two pop on it on the exam. Can anyone help explain this to me? There’s one small sentence in Becker about it, but doesn’t really explain how to do it. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you so much! 🙂

    BEC: PASSED!
    FAR: PASSED!
    AUD: PASSED!
    REG: PASSED!

    general rule for exam purposes:

    sect 1245: equipment like property

sect 1250: real property. if declared SL depreciation, the entire gain is 1231 or capital gain.

here is a very good explanation that you need to know. just read it over, the pictures arent that important if youre not a visual person.
