How does everyone recommend studying for the sims? Is watching the videos in Becker good review?

I recommend practicing 2-3 SIMS a day (for easier chapters, do more) and watching Becker videos whenever you do not understand.
For authoritative lit, just practice 2-3 research sims (they should be quick!) but familiarize yourself with how to search / advance search on Auth. Lit. With a hard SIM with calculation, practice looking up a topic in the Auth Lit. Don't focus too much on it though – better to practice basis SIMS 😉

Hi guys, my suggestion for Reg sims is dont bother spending too much time and getting hung up for being totally lost on them. If you have Becker, do those 3 practice exams like its a real exam and those 20 – 21 sims altogether should be plenty. Also, if you have time look at the newly released AICPA questions (includes both mcqs and sims). What I do recommend and what I did while prepping was making sure I knew the layout of the authoritative literature and the topics. The layout is sort of similar to how the becker chapters are set up. One of the sort of guaranteed questions on the reg exam is they will provide a letter to or from the client and you would have to change the wording and tax advice that you provide on that letter. besides getting the research questions right, if you know the layout of the auth literature inside and out you can pinpoint exactly where to look for your answer. You might not get all the answers but there are couple of easy points that you can get in those questions even though you dont know the calculation involved or even the concepts. That saved me in my exam, knowing the layout of the literature. Its futile to search for keywords or even use advanced search in the literature. Just my two cents.

I'm up and at it early. Very nervous but I know I can do this. @Anish.Iamsal2017 I have a becker 2018 will that layout work for authoritative literature layout?
Keep those fingers crossed for me, I started this morning writing notes. I am going to go topic by topic mcq's and then go random. I think this is a plan, but I will adjust accordingly. My score moved a little, but I need to hit a high trending to give me a little cushion of confidence. I am grateful for any tips or advice.

Taking REG tomorrow. After a good first exam, I am nervous if it was just a fluke. Any advice would be awesome.

@parker Are there any areas you think you need to brush up on? If so, I'd review those. Perhaps, instead of a fluke, you under performed on BEC? I bet you're more prepared than you believe. After a good review, I'd get a good night's sleep and kill it tomorrow.
@Anish.Lamsal2017 and @74phoenix, Thanks for the suggestions on the sims. They have always been a weakness on my score reports. I'm going to continue to work a few each day and go over the areas I struggle with. Using the AL is a great suggestion as well.

I know this was created in 2017, but this may be helpful in determining what areas to focus on when practicing Simulations. You can always double back this list with the Blueprints provided by the AICPA and see how the topics and tasks line up.

You guys can do it! Remember to do breathing exercises 🙂 I also recently heard of a website called Focusmate.com where you sign up and and are paired with a person, and have to check in with them daily on your goals.

Hope study is going well for everyone. I'm up and at it early. My son graduates tomorrow receiving his masters degree. There is some travel involved so I am studying early, and planning my evening study as well. I plan to continue the mcq marathon, previous aicpa questions, and go over a few sims and ninja notes. I'm trying to take advantage of any study time I have. Keep those fingers crossed gang I want to do well.

Working some Becker sims this afternoon and watching the SkillMaster videos to see how the instructors approach the problems.
Congrats to your son @tncincy! Let's get that 75!

Happy Mother's day to the mothers among us 🙂 . I went to the graduation yesterday, it was beautiful and long, so I thought I've been through enough graduations so I decided I am going to read my notes while we wait for them to read off all the graduates only to find out that there is a clear bag policy and we could not bring in bags or purses until we got to the door. There were a lot of angry women. Then it started to rain :-(. So I couldn't bring in my books and I tried listening on my phone, the phone died, my charger in my purse in the car. So I just sat for several hours of cheering (screaming) for the next person. So study was all but lost. Trying to make up today with a slow start, but I plan to get it done.

Trying to make today a productive day. I have checked into my hotel yesterday and will be here until Thursday. I thought I would need a nap after the exam tomorrow afternoon. I went into a mini panic mode because I was trying to sign into the forum yesterday and there was not a login page. I thought I had a virus or something on my computer. I am excited, and anxious so I am studying to make it count. Keep those fingers crossed the clock is ticking….tomorrow afternoon is show time.
