Hi everyone, this is my first time on another 71. Your posts are very helpful. I sit for Regulation on 01/18/2012 using Becker 2011 material. Any last minute advice? I've only experienced one tax season so the material is all new to me. I'm freaking out!!

It's busy season and I am taking REG on 2/25. Hoping I'll have enough time to study and prepare. Tax is definitely one of my weaknesses. Going to have to buckle down and study my butt off.

I took REG on Saturday. Third attempt for me. I don't feel very confident. I don't understand how I can pass audit and FAR on my first try with no problem, and REG kills me!! I hate this test!!! 🙂

@jenn603 Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🙂 What material did you use? Any tips?!?!?! its my First time taking it and from what I've read on this blog, I've been studying the wrong things 🙁

I used Becker. I think Becker did a great job for every part except REG. The biggest thing for me was doing the practice tests. If I didn't know an answer, I looked it up and wrote down what I found. It helped to do different types of problems all at once to tie it all together rather than do 50 multiple choice on governmental and then switch and do 50 questions on bonds, etc. Praying that method got me a passing REG score!

Really?!?! bummer 🙁 I've done all the homework with becker and have been getting 90s so I felt confident, but then I did one of the practice exams and I did horribly. I just really hate contract law. Well I have the last week to make it count. We will see what happens. Best of luck to you! I hope you passed as well 🙂

I'm taking my exam on 1/14 and I skipped over the section on AMT just because it's confusing and I didn't want to dwell on it when I could use the time to really understand the other sections. Do you guys think it's a very significant piece of the exam or I should be safe skipping it?

@jenn603 I like the advice on doing different types of questions all at once to tie it all together!

I am using Becker and I've gone through the HW questions- now I think i'll do the simulated exams (100 diff MC each) over and over again until it's the day of my exam.

It is always a risk to skip something. It could be a simulation and then you would be in trouble.

I just took this test and had a simulation that I am not exaggerating was no where in my study material. So couple a “where did that come from” simulation with one you could have studied and chose not to and you are sunk. Good luck to you.

@xwingdingx – did you do the practice exams for Becker yet? I was on the same boat about skipping AMT…I figured since its a small topic in the becker material (what are the chances of it being on the exam), but then I took the practice exams. Let's just say I went back and learned that topic!!!

@cyn637 no I haven't done the practice exam yet (i think I will tonight) but a coworker of mine told me there were 2 MC on AMT so I guess I should take a look!

It's almost guaranteed that you will see 1-2 MC AMT questions. Up to you if you want to study the topic. I would if I were you. I highly doubt if any AMT questions are pretest.

I agree with @PistolPete. I would spend a little more time on AMT. I've seen AMT questions on my tree times taking REG. I wouldn't be suprised if they put it in a simulation.

Does anyone have any advice on how to at least be dangerous with the Business Law portion of Reg? After my first fail it said I did poorly on the Business Law section when compared to the rest. I'm using Becker and I did purchase the flash cards. I'm not sure if I should focus most on the book (again), the multiple choice (again), flash cards (again), or all of the above? Business law wasn't my forte in college unfortunately… thanks for the help!
