    I am retaking the REG exam, and it is torture to go over the material again. Any suggestion, how to manage this? I am going blank when I am reading the question, I am familiar with the material but I think mind is not into reading those boring questions over and over again. If you are repeating the exam, How do you guys handle this?

    jus75- I was in the same boat, had to take REG 3 times before I passed with an 88. You have to realize that you will never pass REG by giving it the old “college try”, you have to be very comfortable with everything in the CSO. Just suck it up and focus, you can pass if you try hard enough. Hang in there and just keep doing mcq's until it sticks. Good Luck.

    I am using Becker and Gleim. On Becker I am getting 80-90% correct on mc questions. When I start Gleim I am getting in the mid 60s. Anyone else going experience the same thing? Not sure how to prepare for the sims on this exam. From what I have been reading sims are very difficult.

    AUD - Passed 88
    REG - Passed 87
    BEC - Passed 78
    FAR - Passed 75

    @jus75

    Jeff always says to tackle it like it's the first time (or something to that effect). That's what I would do. As for how horribly boring it is, I find that it's most helpful to take lots of breaks where you are physically active. Even if you just unload the dishwasher, it's getting up and doing something that will keep you fresh.

    @peanut

    my mistake, sales is easy, secured transaction is my problem right now.

    well maybe i dont like it so much right now because i'm sick, i had an insane fever last night and was delusional for most of the night. i tried to reschedule my exam but it said its too late… so now i am trying to suck it up and get through this stuff. the whole concept of perfection and attachment isnt clicking right now. its 3pm PST and i do have a few things to do tonight before my entire family gets together for new years and decides to spend the night at my parents place.. yay.

    Anyone know the answer to katelyn's question above:

    “CPAexcel keeps saying things like, “Through 2009 [xyz rules], but in 2010 and 2011 that did not apply. [xyz rule] will apply in 2012.” I'm taking the test on Jan7. Am I going to be tested on things that didn't apply in 2011? Technically I'm taking the test in 2012 but my study text, while up to date, doesn't provide any specific information on 2012. Maybe an easier question to answer would be how was it handled in 2011? Would xyz rule be tested or would the 2011 application be tested? ”

    I am retaking REG 01/15. I bought the Becker materials a couple months ago, expecting to be able to upgrade to the 2012 materials. Well Becker told me all I get is the 50% “past student” discount, making it about $650 bucks for the upgrade.

    Would really love to get some advice on any test changes from Nov 2011 to Jan 2012? I thought I read somewhere (maybe AICPA), that REG only covers items that have been in effect for at least 6 months?

    FAR - 61 (5/31/2012), 80 (08/31/2012)

    I did some research since that post, and, like you said, the January test is based only on the last 6 months of rules. Therefore, I'm going with that we're going to be tested on 2011 tax code. Any other changes to the 2012 test are (per Jeff) minor and not worth upgrading your materials.

    I'm still not sure about these rules that were briefly suspended. I've elected to learn only the 2011 version of the rule, and here's hoping that was a good call.

    Hopefully someone else can confirm what I've gathered?
