AnonymousInactivegreatscott – I have been telling myself that since I took my test yesterday. (“Just keep in mind we are all taking the same miserable test….”) If its not in the book which it wasn't, we were all under the same strict time constraints to research and answer these topics so we can't all get it wrong and fail. They will have to make adjustments so we do better. That is what I am going to continue to keep telling myself that until I find out my score!

The_AmYamMemberwell… I took REG on 10/21 and got a 73 studying with Becker.
I am going to retest in January and supplement the questions with Wiley after a thorough review of the chapter material.
To those who have to retest/haven't sat yet:
Compare what the lectures say to the Content Specification Outline at the beginning of the book and go with the outline and not what is said about the material in the lectures.
Nothing can prepare you for the sims… I saw mine and died a little on the inside… they were out of control!

MahinaMember@bnlacombe – When I took REG, I didn't see much of the standard or fixed rates. If they wanted to test on it, they gave a number in the problem. The ones I did see were pretty standard and year to year, like homeowners deduction, itemized deductions, and the like.

KalamariMemberSo, some folks are saying that nothing can prepare you for the sims and others say that the key to passing is to allocate a larger chunk of time to complete them.
Does anyone know if there is a tutorial or something dedicated to teaching how the codification is organized in terms of topic? Personally, I am horrible at searching using keywords, it is almost impossible for me to find info on more obscure topics that I have no experience with.

AnonymousInactiveI'm about to give up on this thing. I was so confident with the CPA exam after passing my first two sections but then I failed FAR. Now I'm second guessing all my studying and my materials. I completed my Becker self study course and final review. I feel like I understand the material fairly well with Becker. However, I just took a Wiley test and did terrible. The material is so different and their sims were ridiculous. Does anyone have advice on how to conquer this exam. I can't fail another section. I'd be so disappointed.

The_AmYamMember@CPAhopefulTX… while I didn't pass… I am not too far off.
My strategy: read book, watch lecture, do notes/flaschards after, then the questions. What got me was all the ancillary material that ended up being not-so-ancillary. (so learn that crap too.)
I got through the MCQ's fairly quickly and left myself just under 2 hours for my sims. They were H-A-R-D. I went for the “easy” ones first and then the harder ones. Utilize the research tool for all the sims… it helps. I finished with 2minutes left…
I am going to use the Wiley online questions next time, b/c with Becker i got to a point where I knew all the right answers without having to think about the question.
Put FAR out of your head while you're testing… nothing you can do about it right now anyway!

AnonymousInactiveHey Becker students. In the Final Review R2 lecture Task-Based Simulation 1, why do the Green's get an adjustment for self-employment tax? I didn't think they were self-employed. Dennis worked for Olinto Company and Kelly worked for the Douglas County School District. Don't you have to be self-employed to pay self-employment tax and therefore receive the adjustment?

hopeful_cpaParticipanthey guys, passed reg the first time through and lost credit, retook earlier in Nov and didnt pass this time through. i know i was 5 questions off and i know exactly what i did wrong.
first of all, trust me when i say their historical weighted % of questions tested is a LOAD OF BULL!!!! most of my exam was tax preparer responsibility and that was the section i studied the least, and now i paid the price for it.
my review process: i already wrote down all the issues i had when i took the exam so i know where to focus and what to know for sure when i retake in january. also, since i immensely sleep deprived (due to insomnia issues i have) i will be taking sleep medication to rest lol.
i WILL NOT let this happen again and let this stupid exam get the best of me. NOBODY on this forum should give up on this thing… we will pass it eventually and get through it.
does anybody know where i can get a lot of practice information on the M-1 from?!
BEC: Done
REG: Done
AUD: Done
FAR: DoneI'M DONE!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AnonymousInactiveHas anyone heard if REG has been calculation intensive this window? My first time at REG I ran out of time and I am trying to prepare myself this time. When I took FAR I spent weeks remembering calculations and then got almost completely theory in my exam (I was lucky). I know it varies but I was wondering if anyone had a feeling.
