Atelery, I see what you mean about the details. I have 5 more hours of study time before I am going to call it quits and get a good night sleep! I am trying to fit as much in my head as possible. Between skimming the book, practicing the multiple choice, and practicing the sims – I feel like I am on overload lol.

RedRage, it sounds like you did a nice job. Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be rooting for you on score release day!

I have REG on Nov 30th and am only on chapter 5 of 20 using Gleim. It's so hard to focus especially as the holiday season comes. I just keep thinking about ugly sweater parties and Santacon. I just keep trying to tell myself it's my last test and if I pass I'll be DONE.

@I hate FAR, I feel the same way. I'm so burned out and there's something about REG that my mind just refuses to retain… My exam is on Sat and part of me wishes I had more time to review because every time I start reading the review material, I feel like I'm seeing it for the first time.

@redrage, thanks for the encouragement. I'm trying to muster everything I have to keep trekking through. I'm just not a tax person, so I'm not nearly as confident. Thankfully, my CPA review has never let me down before.

    @PistolPete

I used Becker for my main review. Then I always supplement with the CRAM. I don't feel confident at all right now about REG, but I keep telling myself that I have never felt confident 9 days away from an exam. I seem to do really well with intense cram sessions in the last days before the exam. Since this could possibly be my last exam, it seems like I would be more motivated. However, I am finding out it is probably the exact opposite.

    AUD - 87
    BEC - 88
    FAR - 80
    REG - 11/30/11

    Hi everyone,

I read a lot of posts saying that Becker does not prepare them at all for the simulations. For those of you that feel this way, is there a different software you'd recommend? How does the Wiley test bank compare to the exam?

Nothing can prepare you for the SIMS. I used Wiley and felt the same way. The best thing you can do is to learn the concepts through MCQs and then practice a couple of SIMS just for the format issue.

I took my REG test today. I think that my experience is similar to many of those that you guys have described. It was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Even still I feel that maybe I did ok. The first testlet wasn't bad at all. I felt that the second two mc testlets were quite a bit harder which I am going to take as a good sign. (Hopefully I am right!) I was however pretty blown away by the SIMS. Topics I thought I knew well were put in a very different perspective in my simulations and I am not sure that I did so well. Heres to hoping for partial credit! All I know is that I fellt much better leaving this one than I did audit (where I was crying :'( ).

Now I just have to wait the very long 2 and a half weeks until they will finally reveal how I did. Until then I am going to keep telling myself that I did fine as I don' think that I can handle another fail.

I took REG yesterday, I prepared with BECKER! All I have to say is, Becker prepares you very well for the multiple choice questions. I don't think anything can prepare you for SIMS. I went back to my book to see if I could get an answer for the SIMS and nope!!!!! The book doesn't go into that much detail….I felt good about 2 out of the 6 simulations and that's just horrible!!!! I couldn't even get answers out of the research tabs =( I spent too much time looking and NOTHING! Has anyone passed and felt that they did horrible on SIMS?

by the way, does anyone know exactly how many SIMS are not counted towards your grade? I just dont know how they expect us to know some of the SIMs =(

Could it be that they really want to test us on how to research????? That's my only guess =( Even as an expert I would imagine you need to do research….so maybe that's our chance to prove to them we know how to get an answer when we need it? That's just crap! =( I too wanted to cry during my exam =( an hour is not enough for some of the sims

Soproudofmyself – I used Becker as well and my sim experience was nearly identical to yours. The research tabs helped a little but did not cover (or I could not find) everything I needed. I can't answer your question about passing because I have no idea of my outcome but I am pretty sure that 1 of the simulations is pretest.

@Soproudofmyself – that could be very well so (which is why they let us use the Code for every problem). In practice you use research all the time for tax treatments you aren't 100% sure of. My instructor for my business tax class in college told us not even to buy a text book. He advised us just to buy the Code and use that to answer homework problems.

    SoProudofMySelf,

I had the exact same experience. I felt like I rocked the multiple choice but the sims totally caught me off guard. I too looked in my Becker book and found very little on the questions that I had. Just keep in mind we are all taking the same miserable test….

    Good Luck!
