KasiaSParticipant@katiekanton, thank you for the advice. I'll definitely try that next time. I noticed that I've had significantly more frequent migraine attacks since starting the CPA especially leading up to exam day and score release. I'm sure it has everything to do with my stress levels being elevated.
@yankeeaccountant: Don't let the practice exams ruin your mojo. When I was practicing for FAR, I was scoring between 63 and 80, usually in the 70's and I walked away with an 88. You'll be fine, just keep the faith.
@hopeful_cpa: It sounds like you're down to running on fumes. Maybe consider giving yourself one light study day so you can recharge and do something you enjoy. Based on your practice, I think your studies are paying off.

RedRage00MemberREG doesn't seem as bad as FAR so far. I hope I don't jinx myself LOL
I need to focus more on individual and corporate tax. Those 2 seem to have the most MCQs. The other tax sections seem to be pretty straight forward. I'm getting high marks on those.
Business Law is business Law. My scores are getting higher the more I work them. I'm always able to narrow them down to 2 choices for a 50/50 chance and if wrong it's usually the other.
3 more weeks until REG!

yankeeaccountantParticipant@kasia–thanks! I need the the lift.
@Redrage–sounds like you are on track!!!
Generally speaking, I am needing some reassurance from you guys. I just finished 9 hours today. I am still listening to some of my Roger cram, I just got it a week ago and haven't been able to listen to everything. I have maybe 2 hours left to hear. Overall, I did a Becker Final and didn't do so hot. Mistakes I made were careless, nothing really from not understanding the concepts. I just got done with a Wiley exam (no sims) and feel a bit better scoring a 84.72%. What are your thoughts comparing the Becker exams to Wiley? I am wondering if I have enough time to reinforce everything so I can pass on Tuesday. I found that I did well on tax sections while doing the homework (I went thru tax first), but then blaw wasn't so great. It seems like it has taken me awhile in my final review to bring up my scores on tests. I am really nervous. I don't want to push back my exam, I have Audit on 11/23. Do you think you have to score above 80% to pass the real exam? UGH.
Thanks for your ear(s)!!!

wiley… and i just finished another practice test, 91.6% and 77.4% on the mc and sim's… its picking up, i understood the sim's better this time around. i hope i can stay somewhere close to this when the day comes. don't crap yourself, it stains… you will be fine.
yes, i'm burnt and exhausted… i have done two full length practice exams today including sims and i think i'm going to do one more before the end of the night. but for now, gym time =) i'm going to go blow off some steam.

i took becker the first time around last year and the material seems to be pretty equal. i think you should finish up that cram, get a good night rest, review for the first half of tomorrow then relax and go into the exam head up and confident. take your time when you read the questions, i do the same thing when it asks for what is incorrect or what is not required, or on the last sim it said one of the expenses is not expensed with a sec 179, i thought it said yes it was to 179 and got that wrong. we just need to slow down and read the questions thoroughly.

RedRage00MemberI read that some people are studying the tax forms. Is this normal? I've been cranking out MCQs, but I haven't looked at any of the tax forms. I haven't studied SIMS either. I'm focusing on learning the material through MCQs and then I'll review some SIMS for formatting like I did for FAR. I got “stronger” for SIMS in FAR and I only did a handful of SIMS. I took Jeff's advice and focused on learning the material through MCQs and it paid off for FAR.
So what is this about people reviewing tax forms?

I have been looking at sims and forms…I know it is counterintuitive to what most people do, but I am doing whatever I can to pass this time. I took REG last window and had some sims that I didn't even know what they were asking. So, I am preparing by doing tons of mcq's but also to be aware of as much as possible. I hope it works!!!
Have fun storming the castle today! I know I will. 😛

AnonymousInactivewow, i was actually feeling pretty confident about this test. I have passed Audit, Reg, and BEC so far on the first try and all I have left is Reg and I'm taking that Wed. I've been using Becker all the way so far and after doing all the lectures, reviewing the notes, doing all the questions etc, I thought I had a pretty good grasp of the material.
I then decided to attempt the practice tests in the Becker software and got absolutely destroyed. On both of the tests I was getting something like 58%. With only a day and a half left to study for this test I feel like all hope is lost. After hearing about friends past experiences with Reg, it seems like it is an impossible beast to overcome.

AnonymousInactiveHey to anyone using Becker,
I went online to get the course updates for the REG section and I'm confused about one change. On R2 page 17 the update tells us to re write the existing paragraph to say that limitations on deductions do exist but then another update tells us to cross out the paragraph we write in. So, for 2011 are there limitations on Itemized Deductions or should all of B 1 be crossed out completely?
