needtopassthisMemberThanks for the advice I really appreciate it…it's just so hard to stay motivated. Sorry about REG, but in regards to AUD i have it scheduled for Feb of 2012 that was a typo on my end..my bad. I like Roger a lot as he keeps the lectures upbeat. I'm a recent college graduate and start my job on Nov. 1st so I am trying to squeeze in the two exams before I start. So I am hoping for the best!
Just remember some of the biggest risks reap the biggest rewards!
Hoping, wishing, and praying...

hopeful_cpaParticipantcan somebody do me a huge favor and explain a sec 351 exchange for me please?
i thought that the people that transfer land or property to a corporation must have 80% control immediately after formation for it to be a non-taxable event, carry over basis carry over holding period.
if two people form a corporation, one person buys 50% stock with cash and other exchanges land for 50% stock, then will the exchange of land be considered a sec 351?

yankeeaccountantParticipantI did the same. I left my job in February. Passed BEC and FAR. Thought I would be back working (I was budgeting 5 months off) but here I am…..taking REG and then Audit. I hope I can churn it out!
I am really liking the Roger cram, he is lively to say the least. So far so good. I am going to take a Wiley test tonight and see progress (hopefully!!!). I take REG on Nov first, so last big push.
Best of luck to ya!

morning…..Since I am in my final review mode, I try to do 6/8 hours a day. Typically, I try to do 5 hours of studying.
How are you feeling about REG? Let me know how it is going and what review you are using….
I took an exam yesterday in Wiley overall I got a 72%. Not great. But it was those darn business law sections bringing down my overall score. I have been using a newer Wiley review book, there are alot of new mcq's and sims in there. It is really reinforcing what I know in tax, and still working on b-law. I am also using the Roger cram. I have to say, I am really liking the change of pace from Becker and Yaeger.
I think you sit near the end of November, right? I am going for broke on Tuesday!!! I need to planets to be in alignment!!!

RedRage00MemberMy exam is on 11/20. So about 3.5 weeks away. eek!
I'm using the Wiley testbank online and I have the book too. It's been a slow week here at work so sometimes I'll log in and take a 20 question testlet here and there when I have some spare time. I usually study for 3 hours a night at home, and at least 6 on Saturday/Sunday. I take Fridays off…but I'm thinking of adding them back in for the next few weeks if I don't feel comfortable enough with the material.
I think my studying is going okay. I always suck the first time through. lol
Good luck on your exam.

RedRage00MemberThe business law portion is driving me nuts. I thought I'd have more trouble with the tax part since I don't have a background in tax, but it seems like BL is worse. The questions are just tricky.

PistolPeteMemberIs 5 weeks enough time to study for REG? I just started today, and the last day of testing window is Nov. 30th. I really don't want to wait until January to sit, but I feel like 5 weeks is really pushing it. thoughts?

I totally agree, the b-law sections ruin my test scores!!!
I think it is enough if you can be disciplined and stick to a schedule. For me, the hardest part is the business law. I had business law in college–my freshman year—1982! So, needless to say, it is taking a while for this to cement in my head. Sometimes when you are really pushed you just go into automatic and it all falls into place. I say–Go for it!
Contracts are so tough. I am doing the Roger cram and IMO, he goes over it better than Phil Yaeger. Plus he keeps me awake!! Good luck

I have the Roger study material, but I don't have the Cram. I agree he does keep us awake, which is way better than Becker IMO. I took REG last Jan and passed it with Becker but lost credit so here I am again.
Is the Cram worth it?
