    Ana,

I used Becker for all my section and passed FAR, AUD, and BEC in my first attempt. As far as REG is concern, I have score above average on MCQ, but I failed miserable on SIM. In fact, I have taken the test for the third time and I think SIM might have prevented me from getting my CPA, again. I have one more shot before I start losing everything I did. After the restructure of the cpa exam I feel that SIM (Becker, Willey, etc) are not representative to those SIM from the real test and unfortunately there is not enough information out there so these can be replicated.

    @CPADeam

If you're asking what % of the exam will be over the topics added as of 7/1/11, the following is a link for the CSO.

    https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/CPAExam/ExaminationContent/ContentAndSkills/DownloadableDocuments/CSOs-SSOs-Effective.7-1-11.pdf

If you're asking about the weights of the various sections, MCQs count for 60% and SIMs count for 40%.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

So I am wondering, as I sit here is study. Are there going to be questions like “Capital Gains and Loses are reported on what schedule?” In my experience so far I haven't really noticed the AICPA testing “trivia” like that… but then again, REG is the most memorized/non- theoretical of them all…. I just wonder if I should make some silly flashcards for all the forms and sched and run through them at night, or if that is a complete waste of my brain power….

I am shooting for that 76 this time!!!

FAR 91 AUD 91 BEC 81 REG Oct 2011 is the plan

@moldoll …luckily those type of questions are kind of second nature while working in tax ya know…im not gonna bother memorizing the schedules & sections of the obscure forms though-just pray for semi-reaosnable sims on this exam come october

about to rewind to reg1 after getting thru reg1-4.5…p.s. the ethics section was insanely easy so dont waste time reading/watching lectures, just do the questions, pretty common sense especiallllllllyyyy after having taken 3 parts already

Oh my! One more week to wait and I’m going nuts. I don’t know why the wait is driving me crazy. Even if I did fail REG, I’m in the middle of studying BEC. So, I won’t be able to go back to restudying for that part until I take BEC in the end of October. Yet, I still can’t help but feel curious about my score. Maybe there is still some hope that I passed. After all, this was my very first attempt in REG, so I have no idea how it’s graded. Who knows!

I passed FAR with a good score using Becker and I really only studied the materials covered in the DVD lecture. I also completed all the homework and sample tests. I am getting the feeling that may not be the case for REG. Did anyone here kind of follow the same path with Becker (not looking at ancillary material) and have success with REG?

    thanks

    AUD - 86 (08/10)
    BEC - 83 (11/10)
    FAR - 90 (05/11)
    REG - 78 (11/11)

The ancillary material in REG covers Ethics which is around 18-20% of your grade. I'm convinced I failed REG my first two times because I didn't take the ancillary seriously. The third time around I had read the ancillary 3 times, and it helped me tremendously on exam day.

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

thanks, that is what i was afraid of. just finished chapter 1 and the homework had a gazillion questions on like exchanges, but it was mostly covered in the ancillary material, was not sure of the disconnect there. Now I know.

    AUD - 86 (08/10)
    BEC - 83 (11/10)
    FAR - 90 (05/11)
    REG - 78 (11/11)

After some repetition of like-kind exchanges it will become easy peasy. I was referring mostly to chapter 4 ancillary..ekkk!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Just went through the chapter four ancillary — it was the dullest material ever, and I have to admit I just skipped it after a failed attempt at reading and worked the MCQs with the book open. I suppose I should probably go back and spend some focused time on it…

    REG -- October 3!!
    FAR -- Pass
    BEC -- Pass
    AUD -- Pass

I started studying for REG this week. How much time is recommended for the 6 SIMS? Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks
