The AICPA decided on having no waves for the first 3 quarters of 2011. That means that all scores will be released during the blackout month, which equals more waiting time to receive our scores. That's why I scheduled REG (My last exam) for the latest date possible, as I really dislike waiting.

Thanks for the info. I'm doing the same. I haven't scheduled my exam yet, but I'm trying to schedule it for the last week (preferably weekend) in Feb.

BEC 75 (lost credit - need to retake!)
    AUD 69, 75 - done
    FAR 79 - done

Quick question….for those studying with the Yaeger Regulation 2011 version…is there a lecture on the ethics and professional responsibilities just like in the 2010 version. Just want to know if it is still worth it to get the 2011 material.

    Thanks!

What is the best type of business structure, for tax purposes, for an investment company? I'm thinking LLC – I am assuming the capital gains would flow through at the lower rate to the owners. I know it can't be C-Corp b/c of the personal holding company tax.

Hey Jeff, thanks for “50 Things.” It has been a big help. You mention that ethics and responsibilities will be moving from the Regulation exam to the Audit exam. I'm reviewing the AICPA's CSOs for 2011. It states that ethics and responsibilities topics will be added to the Audit exam, however Regulation will still include ethics and professional responsibilities as it did prior to 2011. Could you clear this up? Sorry if this is a repeat question.

Does anyone know if the new material on REG related to the business entities (Sole Propetiorship, Joint Venture, General Partnersip, Limited Liability Partnership, Limited Partnership, Limited Liability Company, and Corporation) is literally the exact material that used to exist on BEC?

I ask because I have taken and passed BEC in 2010, but I am taking REG next week. Is it sufficient enough to just review that chapter of BEC for those business entities??

    Thanks

Yes, the Business structures part is mostly the same as the one in BEC 2010. Today I will finish the R-6 material, with just some mcqs left for tomorow. I'm probably WAY ahead of my schedule but I continue my MBA trimester on Jan 11, which will slow down my CPA studies probably by 50-75%.

herbert7890 – whoa you really are ahead of schedule. I'm sitting for it Feb 19th and I'm only in chapter 4. Sounds like you are using Becker….did you study the eithics and professional section? Becker posted 51 questions on their 2011 material.

@jessmile14 Yes, I'm using Becker 2011 and the Wiley book to complement. I read the ethics and professional responsibilities in tax services once so far and did the passmaster questions also. It's probably not heavily tested but is better to be prepared for anything the AICPA throws at us : ) . I'm starting R-7 tomorow

Ivall1700- no worries…I'm sure you'll find the time. I'm working full time too and find it difficult to put in the hours. My study schedule has been Mon-Thurs from 8pm-11:30pm and Sat 11am-6pm. Sun 3-4 hours. Good luck 🙂

Maybe this has been answered before, but for anyone sitting for REG in the first window of 2011…..are they getting tested on 2010 tax laws or 2011? Becker's 2011 textbook has a lot of 2011 tax law changes as well as what the 2010 tax law is….but I don't know which one to focus my attention on =(

I took my first exam (REG) on 11/23 and got a 73. I am re-taking REG this saturday (1/22) and am looking for suggestions on how to “re-study.” I decided not to go through the Becker lectures all over again because it takes so long, so I'm just going over the 2010 book w/ 2011 updates and I'm going to do mult choice and the 2 practice exams.

What would you say is a reasonable amount of study hours for retaking an exam 2 months later? I haven't studied much so far this month, but I studied for 3 weeks in November. Also, does anyone have a “5 day study cram suggestion?”

Can anyone confirm if property and Insurance will not be on REG in 2011? Thanks
