So I'm taking reg next friday (8/12). Ive been studying becker for like the past 2 months and i was actually starting to feel good about it until i read posts on here from a few different people saying becker didn't prepare them as well as it could have. I recently passed FAR using only becker to prepare so i just assumed i could rely on it for REG as well.

For everyone who struggled with the exam after taking becker- I guess I'm just curious if the becker curriculum is missing major topics or just a lot of little details. Is it even worth mastering every single becker question? Right now I'm feeling like i should make a few last minute changes to my study plan but i don't know where to look to plug the gaps. Any advice would be much appreciated… i hate feeling like I'm wasting effort studying becker questions that aren't going to prepare me! 🙁

Well, just left my REG exam. Simulations…..well, I'm not sure what happened there. Honestly, didnt know what the hell was going on and not to mention I ran out of time being forced just to put something in for the last simulation. As if it would have mattered if I had time anyways, Needless to say, I left with two black eyes, a broken arm and nuts crushed.

Jpgrocho—sounds like my experience, and about 95% of other peoples. How'd the multiple choice go? I know that for me, the multiple choice were kinda tough(I scored comparable so didnt bomb em but couldve done better), sims were awful, research was easy(at least I thought, who knows!). Missed it by 2—seems like most who say the multiple choice were fine/easy/fair and sims were hard tend to pass in the end. My goal on the retake is to walk out of my exam feeling better about the multiple choice this time around, the Sims it is safe to say that nobody feels very good about those.

Maybe I will be one of those passing people. I really feel like I knew the multiple choice questions. But really, I don't think anyone can be sure. I really think I got the research problem right….but then again….That is something I will never know. I'll just pray super hard…haha. Good luck the 28th. I look forward to hear what you say about it.

One last thing, your post makes me feel a lot better. Right now I'm just gonna drill AUD and hope to pass that this time on my retake.

    jpgrocho,

REG seems to make everyone question the whole exam. Your comments are so much like everyone's. I am sure you did better than you thought, we tend to focus on the negative immediately after the exam. I think you have the right attitude about getting right to Audit.

We have the same schedule this window. I sit on the 6th for REG and then on the 30th for Audit. My second try on Audit and my first swipe at REG. I don't know how I feel about REG, my Wiley scores are just in the 70's. I am laughing because I can't wait to study for Audit. It just seems less encompassing than REG. I really struggled with REG. Nothing seems to want to stick.

Anwyay, best of luck to you!!

    Hey guys,

Just checking in. I have been working on mcq's most of the day. Trying to focus on my weak spots. Overall my scores are in the 70-73 range. When I look individually by category, I have some categories that I do well on: 85 and over, but then there are those pesky categories down in the 50's. I have been going over my answers trying to see what I did wrong. I would say most of them was more of a –“yikes, I didn't read the question” or I subtracted when I should have added–all seemingly easy mistakes. I only had a few questions, that I was in the dark. Not sure how this bodes for me. I do like the feature on Wiley that allows you to choose questions that you haven't had yet. I feel like when I do those, they teach me to think in more detail about the concept.

Ok, going to do another 72 mcq's and then hit the hay.

@Peanut-BTW, I do about 200 mcq's a day too. sometimes a bit less, because I stop and take notes and try to understand why I got it wrong. How are you feeling about the Wiley q's?

    Good luck everybody!

@Yankee, sounds like you are in pretty good shape! Just drill the weaker areas and you're good to go. I'm feeling pretty good about the Wiley MCQs it's such a nice break from Becker's questions. I read two words into the Becker question and I know the answer. It feels good to have fresh questions. I'm taking KB24's advice, complete each topic fully, then do lots of practice tests. I started at the top of the Wiley list with Agency & Bankruptcy selecting 99 MCQ's for each so I can see all questions per topic. Good luck this week everyone!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Yeah, we do have pretty much of the same schedule! Let us know how they go. I used GLIEM MC questions and felt like they prepared me pretty well for the REG questions….But who knows. I have GLIEM for aduit as well but plan on getting Wiley. Do you like Wiley questions?

    jpgrocho,

I do like the Wiley testbank. I have used Becker as well, and I have the same problem as Peanut—Becker is so easy to memorize the answer–I am not sure why?! weird.

I just posted a thread on Wiley. I like their feature that allows you to choose questions that you havent seen yet. I like to do these since it keeps me thinking. I start out doing all the Becker mcq's then I move to Wiley in the review stage. I am trying to use Wiley on REG and Audit since I have read threads saying that they thought Becker wasn't strong in these two areas. I guess you have to take those comments with a grain of salt. Everyone is different. I did use Gleim for BEC in my last days of review, I thought it was great. The questions were really hard, but I think that is a good thing. There are so many concepts to learn there and Gleim helped to solidfy them.

Best of luck to you!! I sit on Saturday, so I will report back –crossing my fingers!!

    @Peanut,

Ok….took a test right out of the starting blocks this morning and got a 79. I feel ok about it. I still have weak scores in the same old areas. I need to hammer those today. Mostly all Blaw topics. UGH. I will have to reread the Yaeger notes and my notes on that. How is your studying going? I think Wiley will be good for you….isn't it funny how quickly you memorize the Becker answers? Maybe it is the way they write them?! who knows? Have a great study day.

I am going to hit the library and my swanky study room….of course armed with chocolate–is there any other way??!!

I am doing the Becker passmaster questions and I remember the answers from 2 years ago.

Why is it the closer I get to exam time, the more I log on this forum? Ugh!

That's what happened to me. I've done Becker so much that I memorized the answers and felt like I wasn't really learning anything. Now I've been using Jeff's NINJA notes and Wiley. Then I'm planning on this weekend to take a practice exam with Becker. I did that for Audit and when I sat for the exam, I felt really go about it. I hope that'll work for Regulation on Tuesday.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!
