Skippy1997MemberThank you Yankee
After taking FAR I really wanted to question my sanity, but my first child is coming in December and I wanted to build in some breathing room in case I need to re-take. Hopefully I will not have to re-take, but FAR was “enjoyable”.

jmd09MemberSo after reading everything on here about how Becker did not prepare everyone I was wondering if you thought the Wiley test bank did that great a job? If so, are there any places I can get a decent amount of questions without having to pay (seeing as how I'm unemployed and not being reimbursed for any exam expenses)? I take the exam for the first time tommorow and just wanted to get a quick idea of whether I know the material as well as I think, and if not, what areas I can do some last minute studying to improve on.
REG 90
AUD 85
BEC 92
FAR 84August 2, 2011 at 4:11 pm #371412
Skippy1997Member@ jomarie – Hopefully there is a method to our madness and we can at least enjoy the fall season after losing the summer.
@ jmd – I use Becker and have heard the same thing about not preparing for the exam, but I also heard from other Becker users that they felt prepared, so it is hard to say exactly. Do you have the Passmaster/CBT software from Becker? They include some AICPA released questions in addition to their own M/C questions. The website cpareviewforfree.com has some questions, but I have not used it, so I cannot comment on how good the material is for REG.

yankeeaccountantParticipantskippy and jomarie,
add me to your list. I took 3 exams last window. except, I was studying without working. (I know kinda like cheating). I am embarrassed to say I only passed 2. Figures that I didn't pass Audit—I thought I did the best on that one. I felt enormous pressure to pass all since I wasn't working..and now feel that again with 2 this window. I gave myself 5 months to be unemployed to finally pass the cpa. Here's hoping I get there….and really hoping you guys get there too.
congrats on the baby skippy. what a fabulous time. mine are older, one in college and one in high school. but I remember those days fondly. In those days, Mom was the bomb….these days, Mom is a drag, always studying…and an “accountant” ?! oiy!
jmd–cpareviewforfree is good. I have used it for FAR and BEC and Audit. I think it is good to mix up the testbanks. It is free, so you have nothing to lose. The mcq's tend to run on the more difficult side, but I think it is valuable nonetheless. Good luck tomorrow.:)

AnonymousInactiveI think Becker helps prepare you; however, the wording of the questions are not as direct as they are in Becker. The exam is a blur to me now. I am just glad it's over. All I can do is pray that I passed. If I didn't, I am fully ready to go after it again. At least I know what to expect. I should be able to take FIN and REG next test window if I start studying for FIN now.

AnonymousInactiveI dreamed the other night I took REG and felt so good about it, I just cried tears of joy and relief to finally be done.
Then I woke up and realized I have 3 more weeks of HELL!!!

AnonymousInactive@jmd09, as I wrote in my post, I didn't feel Becker prepared me well for REG; however, I believed Becker was very sufficient in preparing for two sections that I've passed on the first attempts last year before the format changed. I studied REG the same way as I studied the previous two, but failed REG once in the last window. This was the second time I took REG and I still felt that Becker might not have caught up with the new exam changes, and it's missing the big direction of the questions asked. I get over 90% on HM MCs in my reviewing days, and over 80% on the “final exam MCs”, and did all the simulations, and all the AICPA update questinos as well (only 39 in total anyways and NONE of them was on my exam. NONE! and as I said, I saw terms I've never ever heard before on the exam. I studied so much that I knew they just weren't included in the book/testbank software)
BUT I also understand that every candidate encounter different testlets, so it might be just bad luck on my part.
Sorry and I didn't mean to discourage anyone I know how stressful it is to prepare for the exams and noone wants to hear this to feel more stressful, and sorry I'm not really answering a question. I guess I'm also asking, what other supplemental study materials I can use, in case I need to retake REG in the next window. Thanks to @Yankeeaccountant! I will def. check out cpareviewforfree.com. I wonder if there's any study materials that target just on the updates?
Thanks a lot!!!
