JpgrochoParticipantSo I was reading prior posts and read that the AICPA has removed Professional Resp. from the REG exam. I tried to find this on the website and had no luck. Is this true?

I just took REG yesterday and didn't get any questions on professional responsibility, which is too bad for me because I knew those so well! I planned on taking the test in May before the changes but had to reschedule.

yankeeaccountantParticipantYep, first attempt at REG. It isn't going that well. I am having a hard time studying in the summer. The boys are home , which isn't always an issue because I use the library a bit, but because they are home, things are busy, etc. I am not getting to the library as much as I would like. Family issues are pulling on my brain and heart and I am just plain old distracted. I can't seem to absorb blaw and corporate tax. UGH. The extra week I have to study will be good. I am going to shut everyone out and just be a recluse. What am I talking about….I have been a recluse for almost a year now!!!
I am sorry about your FAR experience. But I think your attitude is great. YOU WILL get it next time. I struggle with the mental side of the exam. It is really easy for me to pysch myself out. The second time I took FAR (It took me 3 tries) I was fine on the first testlet then the second one came and the first few answers were easy, so I must not have done well on the first, and I fell apart. I looked around the room and thought…I don't belong here, everybody must be smarter than me. I know it sounds kinda crazy…but I just folded. I kinda equate the way I acted with the movie The Abyss—it was like the water pressure got to my head too! I work hard at avoiding that trap . I think I told you that I am not working, so that I can pass these exams? Well, since then I know I walked into exams feeling like if I fail, it is because I blew it, not because I didn't put good time into it. Knowing that I have put in the quality time, keeps my confidence up. I try to channel a little John Wayne and put a little swagger in my step. I am sure the guys at Prometric love that!! haha.
How are you with REG? I think the third time will be the charm for you!!!! I am pulling for you!
Keep in touch! Have a great day.

yankeeaccountantParticipantHey Allyson and Whyme23,
I opened up the July CSO and found this:
Removed: AICPA Code of Professional Conduct
Removed: AICPA Model Tax Curriculum
Public Law 86-272
Uniform Division of Income for Tax Purposes Act (UDITPA)
Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010
It doesn't specifically mention the circular or the IRC code, so I think they are still in? what do you think???confused 🙁

WhyMe23ParticipantI'm thinking the IRC and Circular will be on it because they are on the new CSO. It seems like they are professional responsibilities to me though whereas the AICPA standards for tax services are more ethical. Who knows, they make a living out of confusing us. It's hard enough to understand everything without being confused on what to actually study.

PeanutParticipant@yankeeaccountant, in reference to you folding in your FAR exam, that's exactly what happened to me and it was because my testlets did not become harder, so I knew I had done a terrible job. I remember that you had said you were doing this full time, and that I was too, and that we would be embarrassed for failing, well I just failed FAR studying full time like a big dumb dumb! REG I started back up last Monday, I was SO motivated up until today. I re-watched two lectures a day, in slow motion, taking awesome notes. I didn't do this for any other exam and I think I've discovered this is how I learn best. After the intense notes, I “re-set all stats” in Becker for REG and did MCQ's for chapters 1-4. After taking this exam twice and writing intense notes, I scored in the high 80's to low 90's my first time through (better have, I've studied this crap twice before this.) I'm only going through the Becker questions once, then I'm purchasing Wiley and for 3 weeks I'm just doing Wiley MCQ's and re writing notes! Thanks for thinking of me 🙂
AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72

yankeeaccountantParticipant@allyson and whyme23,
I have Becker, I checked my pages. Nothing. I guess I was in a Peter Olinto induced fog. Did he just pour on the money talk, or was it just me? Obviously, I wasn't paying attention. I want to pass this sooo bad just so I don't have to listen about SL 450 Mercedes again!! I drive a small suv with 115,000 miles on it!!
I went back and looked at the references, and Whyme is right, the circular and the IRC code are listed. They do make this so confusing…needlessly so.
Ok, back to the mcq's…have a great day guys!
