Thanks yankee, I needed a non-caffeine related boost! We had 7 inches of rain fall last night a record for the area, just so happened to be right before my exam with all my roommates out of town 🙁

You are right though, I need to put in a quality 3 1/2 days and forget all the distractions. I think the biggest thing for me is getting into a flow of answering questions. When things are going well I can power through questions but other times I look at 4-5 questions and then lose focus. As long as I can get into a groove by wednesday I should be fine. I think I know enough material to pass I just need to focus better.

Good luck with the rest of your review I know you will do great too! For me moving back BEC was more about peace of mind rather than actually needing the review. I am pretty sure no matter what I always think I need to prepare more, if you feel like the extra time will help ease your mind I would push it back.

WhyMe23- I found that when there's just a couple of days until the exam, I've got to do as many questions as I can. Of course, if I didn't know the material I had to go over it, but I found that even if I didn't know something very well, it was so beneficial to do the questions because the questions and then reading the answer explanations showed how to apply the material. Sounds like you've had a busy weekend – when it rains, it pours, no? (no pun intended) and you've got some more busy days ahead of you, so good luck!

Eartzi – when I took FAR I felt I got quite a few questions on material that I thought would be less tested (could be it was those questions that don't count though). It's hard to know what to focus your time on, but what I did when I was pressed for time and had no patience to do tons of questions on the same topic was that I skipped around. I would do every few questions and see how I did on them, and then would figure out my next strategy. Individual tax is important, and they could ask you anything about it (which is why there are so many questions) – but as yankeeaccoutant wrote, it's good to spend more time on one's weaker areas. Good luck!

Alright…so after moving my REG test twice, I'm finally sucking it up and taking it on Monday. Any suggestions on how to manage time? I know I need to leave more time for the simulations

    FAR 82
    AUD 81 (2007), 73, 80
    REG 68 (2010), 76
    BEC 58 (2007), 75 DONE!!!!

Thanks Acct, I agree, with only a few days to go doing questions is the best way to reinforce the material.

My plan is to tentatively budget 30 minutes per MC testlet and leave an hour and a half for the SIMs. I am sure I will run a little behind but as long as I have at least an hour for SIMs I think I will be ok.

Yes leave yourself plenty of time for sims. I took this exam last test window and I think I only left myself 45 minutes for the sims. I thought I was going to be ok, but before I knew it I had 10 or minutes left and still had 1/2 of the sims left to do. I think that's why I failed the exam last window. I'm going to try now to time myself for 1 1/2 hours for MCQs and 1 1/2 hours for sims.

Well I just finished reviewing all of taxation material and took a practice mini test with sims on Wiley and I scored a 78. I'm happy with that. For the remaining of the day, I'm going to leave REG and finish up FAR 2 with Roger. Planning on picking up with Business Law tomorrow. I'm a little worried with that part of REG since the last few times I took REG I was weaker in Business Law. My plan of attack is re-write Jeff's notes and do MCQs.

Good Luck everyone who's sitting this week!! Let's go get them!!!

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

    @Jomarie,

I think a 78 on Wiley is pretty darn good! It sounds like you are ready to go. I think the time factor is something that I will be worried about….I haven't even practiced the timing yet. UGH.

Best of luck to you on REG this week–crossing my fingers for you!!!

I'm sitting on Aug 9th. That 78 was just on taxation, I still have to review Business Law and the timing. I'm not going to worry about the timing until the weekend before my exam. I'll take some practice tests then. When are you sitting yankee?

I am supposed to sit on July 31. Seriously thinking of moving it back about 4/5 days. I just don't feel like I know it. I am halfway through the Yaeger Cram, so I am about to hit the blaw–which was an area that I didn't get at all. My mcq's were in the 30-40 range. UGH. I want to be able to finish the cram and all the problems and reread my notes and Yaeger notes a bunch of times and then practice the timing.

Honestly, I am struggling big time studying. so, it is making me wishy washy.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

If it makes you feel better reschedule it. What I mean is if you're not feeling good about it.

thanks jomarie. I think I have to see how I do today–of course I am at the library for an hour and have listened to 10 minutes of the cram–and then decide.

I need to catch some CPA fever and get back into the game.

    have a great Sunday!

It's T-11 hours until my REG exam and I'm getting the jitters again. I tried to take my exam last Tuesday and it blew up before the simulations. Now not only am I worried about the exam, I'm also worried about having a repeat of last Tuesday. I don't know if I'll be able to remain as calm as I did last time if it happens again.

Good luck to everyone testing tomorrow!!

    BEC: 75 11/8/10

Hope it goes smoothly this time, you can only worry about the things you can control. If it crashes again they should just give you the 75, good luck

    whenindoubt,

best of luck to you tomorrow. don't worry about the computer –what are the odds lightning would strike twice??? seriously, just take a deep breath when you walk in there and not let the exam take you away from all the hard work you have done to prepare for this exam.

This is your last exam—you are at the finish line!! Go get it!

Anybody know if the old AMT exemption amounts of 45,000 for individual and 40,000 for corporate are still being used??

I read this today….is muni bond interest still included in ACE?

Set by the 2010 Tax Relief Act, passed in late December 2010, the temporary AMT income exemption amounts for 2010 were $72,450 for married joint filers and $47,450 for single filers. For 2011, the two amounts are $74,450 and $48,450. Also, note that any income paid from private activity municipal bonds issued in 2010 are not included in the AMT income calculation.

I am beyond frustrated with all these changes and do not know which numbers to be memorizing. Ahhh 2 days til exam time.

Well I took my test today…there's no telling whether or not I passed. I'm leaning towards no since my questions didn't get increasingly more difficult as I progressed to new testlets. But, there's not much I can do now about it besides wait. My plan is to study super hard for my last test and take it 10/1 so in case I failed today I can still have enough time to retake it before my FAR expires by Thanksgiving. I seriously don't know what I got myself in to. I don't even know why I want this so bad besides the fact that I know I would hate myself for giving up after putting so much effort in to this. HOPEFULLY it will pay off someday.

Sidenote…I bought the NINJA notes way too late in my study process. I will be buying them tonight for my BEC preparation.

I also was so scared about the “specifics” that everyone talked about in the REG forum but I didn't think the test was as detailed as everyone made it out to be. Just one person's experience…

    FAR 82
    AUD 81 (2007), 73, 80
    REG 68 (2010), 76
    BEC 58 (2007), 75 DONE!!!!
