jomarieParticipantaggies21 – It's so aggreviating!!! Isn't it?? My MCQs was comparable but my Sims were weaker. It's probably cause I ran out of time.
Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!July 14, 2011 at 11:31 pm #371246
kb24ParticipantI've decided that the performance reports are almost worst than useless. We don't know the criteria they use for determining if someone is weaker or stronger; and, if you are weaker or stronger in an area, you don't know by how much. If you just looked at my performance reports, you would guess that my REG score was at least 7-8 points higher than my AUD score, but AUD was actually 5 points higher than REG.
FAR 4/1/11 - 89
AUD 4/15/11 - 85
REG 4/29/11 - 80
BEC 5/13/11 - 85July 14, 2011 at 11:56 pm #371247
AnonymousInactiveCalifornia used to give a numerical score to each section back in 2010, and it still didnt make sense. I remember because when I took FAR I was low 70s and high 60's for almost every single topic, mightve had one low 80 in there. Was confused as to how I scored an 80 but wasn't complaining.
My 2011 exams no longer listed the numerical score.

WhyMe23ParticipantDoes anybody know if we need to memorize tax rates? I am worried about the in depth calculations I may see on the SIMS and was wondering if we need to memorize tax rate tables to help with this or if that is something you can lookup or be given?
Any other tips for preparing for this “out of nowhere” calculations on SIMS?

jomarieParticipantThe question will give you the tax rate. Don't worry about memorizing them.

WhyMe23ParticipantThank you! I really don't know what else I can do to prepare for the spreadsheet calcs besides review Becker and hope the calculations can be figured out if I have enough time.

rce_80MemberHi All Regulation-ians! I have one more exam to complete to become a CPA (aside from the open book ethics after you pass all 4 exams — but that to me doesn't count as a stressful exam as it's open book!). I have to sit for my exam by 8/31/11 and pass or I'll lose Audit credit. WHY CAN'T I FOCUSSSSSS!!?? This should be motivation for me that I'm at the end of the dark tunnel, but it's been hard. I think a huge part is the stress from my fairly new job in a new industry, but even still…I need to focus. I thought I'd come on here and read others comments on studying to motivate me…at least knowing I'm not the only one at home studying late at night helps!
Good luck to everyone who's sitting for an exam this year and those who are waiting for their score. I hope for positive results!!
Happy Studying! 🙂

TxMember@rce_80 – I feel yeah! I also only need to take REG but for some reasons I can't seem to focus on this last one! I'm not sure if it's becoz I'm an auditor and I've never dealt with tax so I don't feel comfy with the materials or maybe I'm juts really burnt out or could be BOTH. Whatever the reasons, I still think I need to get past this feeling coz I lose credit in March next year. That won't be fun, for sure! So here's to giving our best to the last exam ever!!!!
BEC 84
FAR 77
AUD 70, 92
REG pls pls let me FOCUS and PASS!!!!!

AnonymousInactiveThis happened to me before when all I had left was BEC. I call it “last-exam-itis”. There should be some antibiotics for this. You would think that we would be on a roll and knock the last section out, but it's just the opposite.
Well, I failed BEC then. Don't let that happen to you!!! Losing a section is the worst feeling in the world.
I've got REG left now and I'm trying to get motivated since it is the LAST section. Crack open that laptop and go.

JpgrochoParticipantI have a quick little question….
Is it suggested to remember all of the Phase out thresholds or percentages for computing various types of credits? It seems a bit over kill. Or would it be fine or perhaps more beneficial for exam purposes to just understand the general idea and move on to the next section of study? Thank you for any help and suggestions.
10/03/12 AUD- 91!!!
12-07-12 BEC- 75!!! (Half way)
01/18/13 REG - 68, 78.
02/28/13 FAR -68, 65 11/6/13 PLEASE!!!!
Using Becker Self Study 2012July 18, 2011 at 10:34 pm #371256
WhyMe23ParticipantYou don't need to know the phase out amounts, just the fact that there IS a phase out. At least thats what I understand. I still have no idea what to expect for the calculations on the SIMs though if the phase outs aren't included and you don't have to memorize the tax rate tables then how complicated can they be? I guess AMT is always a possibility.

Thank you for the response. Honestly, the whole thing scares the hell out of me. Seeing how you take the exam next week….i'll be looking for a new post from you on how it went! Also, maybe we can refer back to my original questin after the exam! Ha. Good luck!

WhyMe23ParticipantHah thanks I'm freaking out a little, but I should be through all the becker material in the next 2-3 days. Leaving 5-6 days for review. I haven't really practiced any Sims because it seems like a waste of time. I will definitely come back and give an update though. Good luck to you too.
