AnonymousInactive@Michelle, no. You don't need to know the actual phaseout amounts. Just know certain things are subject to phaseouts.
I am amazed that I still have the multiple choice questions memorized from 2 years ago. This restudy is going faster than I thought it would.

AnonymousInactiveI would probably do Yaeger's cram for reg, especially if you're already using Becker. Phil has a great track record with Reg, a difference perspective would be good, fresh set of multiple choice questions, etc. Also, I find Phil Yaeger extremely entertaining!! His jokes are great in my opinion, and even when hes not telling jokes, he just being a goof, it is simply wonderful. His Becker Rants, although a huge waste of study time, and in the Homestudy, he did Becker Rants too often, and at times I felt like I had no time for Becker Rants while I was watching lectures on a Saturday in May, his Becker Rants are comic gold!!! Seriously funny stuff.

AnonymousInactive@kvincentv : I used Becker for REG (Feb 2011) and passed the exam. I did supplement it with the Wiley book though. I turned to Wiley if I didn't understand a particular section in Becker or if I felt that Becker had too little information on a topic. Besides that, I solved all the questions in the Wiley book and I believe that gave me an edge in the exam. The book is really cheap and I'd highly recommend it as supplement to Becker!
Good Luck studying! 🙂

AnonymousInactive@zyt2785 – I switched to studying using ExamMatrix 2 weeks before the REG exam, because doing the Wiley test bank was not helping me at all. I was only averaging in the mid-60s on their practice tests, and I thought I was doomed. But when I started reading the questions on the actual exam, I realized just how well that program had prepared me. All it is is MCQs and Sims (and I thought their Sims were great prep – my score report said I scored stronger on the sims than others who passed), so if that's not how you study best, it may not work for you. Oh, and, plug for Jeff – the NINJA notes helped me out a lot, too.
Best of luck

MichelleMemberi am completely new to this forum, and am so sad i didn't find it sooner…
i felt like i was the only one in this hell hole
but is anyone using Roger's???? i havent seen him mentioned ONCE!
and i cant believe i'm writing this in public, but i got a 42 in audit and i am in complete shock, total loss of words and do not know what to do at this point bc i felt as if i studied enough material, memorized enough, did hw enough, read/reviewed..you name it…what is going on?
i think i'm the only one in this forum to ever have scores that low…i truly truly feel like i cannot ever pass at this point…i'm not complaining just about audit..i've taken far twice and got scores of 48, 46 also
my life has been wasted away already for over a year… trying to study my butt off…but turns out i probably could have gotten better scores choosing answers with my eyes closed.
i want to keep going..but seeing how i'm miserably failing…not even averagely failing…but not even getting 50%…
what am i supposed to do…what am i doing completely wrong???

Happen4reasonMemberCan someone please help me!!! I am going crazy trying to remember all these exclusion amounts and percentages. I am using Becker, and there are new 2011 updates so I am not even sure if I should be memorizing both 2010 and 2011. Is it necessary to know all of these? Does the exam test on the exact numbers since they change every year or are they provided for you within the questions? Also, Becker says not to memorize the exact phase out numbers, but just to know when there is a phase out. Is that true?

HalfwayCPAParticipant@Michelle I recently passed FAR after failing it last window with a 74 Briefly this is what I did
I used Yaeger homestudy and took very detailed notes ( writing FC next to important points). Yaeger worked for me though Phil can be very annoying at times but Cindy is my idol!
I felt like I retained the material best if I did the MC's and sims soon after watching the lecture for that Module. After I worked the MC's on scrap paper, I would write a summary of each solution on a small post-it and stick it directly over that question. (This helped me when I was reviewing the material, I could quickly review the problem then look at the post-it and instantly remember exactly how i solved it, in my own words or example).
After watching all the videos and doing all the problems I went thru my notes and made flashcards of every important point or journal entries I had noted with a FC.
I also did the problems in the back of the Wiley book and used the Wiley test bank. For Mods that I was weak in I watched the lectures again. I know this is time consuming but that's all it is, if you put the time in it all starts to come together.
Remember during the exam to watch the dates, and make sure you know what they are asking because I remember screwing up a ton of question because of that. Good luck to you, I have AUD and REG ahead of me now.

The Real CPAs of NJParticipantDoes anyone have any tips on how to incorporate the new edits to the material for REG posted on the Becker website? I just cracked the book open last night for the first time and ended up putting it off another day when I noticed there were large edits to the material, becoming testable July 1, 2011

AnonymousInactiveOh how I hate being back in this thread again. Wanted to share my Becker REG story since it seems many have asked about it
I used Becker for REG, sat in May after about 7-8 weeks(3-4 laid back weeks and 4 pretty intense weeks) of studying, ended up with a 73. What I have always done for my exams is hit the progress tests on Becker really hard in the last 2 weeks—which is what I was doing for REG and consistently scoring in the high 70s and many times in the 80s. In exams past this would indicate I was prepared, but this time around I mustve just done so many questions that I started to memorize them and not so much understand them. I will definitely be re-using Becker in my re-take as I feel like its a good review program and more than capable of helping someone pass. This time around I might supplement a test bank just to see a greater variety of questions as well as help further my understanding of certain concepts. Sounds like many people have done this during re-takes and it helped.
