@cornelizza is absolutely right, @Nam. I'm working through the simulations for REG right now in preparation for my exam next Monday (7/30) and its definitely helped reinforce the material. My suggestion is to work all the multiple choice problems, then during your final review, answer the optional MCQ's and hit the sims hard. I didn't do that my first time through REG and it cost me a passing grade. Definitely not making the same mistake this time around. Anxious for my rematch, but praying for a good outcome this time. My wife and kids can't afford to suffer any longer.

I am totally confused with one of the simulation from Wiley test bank. I thought we enter NBV in Balance sheet as cost basis not the fair market value???

Correct me if I am wrong?

    Tax Purpose – FMV

    Non taxable event – NBV

Answering MCQ at 2am? You can't be serious… I have enough trouble making myself do them during normal waking hours!!

I am not able to grasp the logic between E&P and taxable income. .

Eg. If we add federal taxes back to Taxable income , why are we reducing it from E& P?

Is it the the same logic between retained earnings and book income ??

Does E& P represent corporation ability to pay shareholder’s dividend. So if we pay federal taxes and receive LIC proceeds . it decrease / increase the E&P respectievely. but have opposite effect on Taxable Income . Am I making sense?

So much information , I am having hard time to retain it !!

Can someone please explain this in simple language?

Hey everyone I am studying with the Becker and I have a question regarding the tax forms as a whole in general. During Becker lectures they just fly over the returns like there not important. On the exam do we need to actually know the tax returns line by line or should I worry more about the rules? I do not have a tax background so this is the hardest section for me. Thanks for any help

Just took REG. The test was not anything like I expected. I've been studying for months and have been taking practice tests with MDS and CPA Excel for 2 weeks now scoring between 75% and 95%. I worked dozens of practice simulations. I marked 19 questions out of the 72 MCs. Each testlet was the same (medium on all three). The simulations were on topics that I knew, but not in the detail that they were asking. I'm at a loss as to what I did wrong. I guess I have sacrifice another could months to REG and the CPA gods. FML.

    F: 80

    B: 81

R: 63 (only studied two weeks)

I applaud your ability to study at 2am because although I'm usually awake, I'm not productive past 10pm 🙁

10pm…? Wow – I must be doing something wrong then, as I'm not generally productive past 6pm.

BTW – I just got done doing all the lectures and home-works, and started to go back to review. I skipped the Becker simulations for 1-4, because I just didn't even want to look at them at the time. Today I went back and looked at them.

Can someone please tell me that those are a joke? They can't be serious. One of those questions alone had 125 box's for answers. I find it inconceivable that they would put a question like that on the exam… The sole purpose of REG simulation questions seems to be to make candidates give up. It's As if someone decided, “Lets dispense with all pretense of actually testing their knowledge and just play with their heads – because those MCQ's are just way too easy.”

A few of the Becker Sims (the ones that are exceedingly long) are not meant to be a replica of a sim you would see on an actual exam, at least in terms of the length. They are just to help you reinforce some of the subjects where a portion of the really long sims could possibly end up being similar to a sim you would see on the exam. I wouldn't be worried about it's excessive length.

While I find the Becker MC for Reg WAYYYY easier than the Becker MC for FAR, I find many of the Reg sims way more demanding and challenging than the FAR sims.

@proach33..good question I want to know that too. Do we fill out Tax forms or just drop-down menu option as in the Becker SIM?
