Took REG yesterday and it was brutal. It sure got harder the farther along I got into the questions. Some of the questions were a little off the wall but most were very close to what Gleim has in their study bank. Two of the sims were kind of out of left field but I did have time to at least try to work through them all.

In response to some remarks above I do flag some of my questions. I probably marked about 7 per section yesterday. Sometimes there is something that sparks my brain from another question and I change an answer but most of the time I do not. If I start second guessing I waste too much time and it seems like time management is a big part of all these exams.

I took REG on leap day, and fully agree with everyone. Where did that come from??? I studied with Becker and prepared for hours upon hours. Weekdays, weekends, my birthday, all of it. Now I'm feeling so defeated. I don't think studying anymore would have prepared me any better. Seems like the SIMS were either from the little miniscule topics in the review or not there at all. I had to use the internet to look up some of it after I left the testing center. Very frustrated!! What's crazy is I studied for REG with the same approach I used for FAR and passed it in November. Crazy. Praying for lots of partial credit.

@MJCPA: I feel your pain with Becker…Did you use Becker to prepare for FAR? Did you feel like it prepared you well?

    Hi,

I am sitting for REG in this april 2012, I am using Becker 2011 edition. Is the material updated enough for all new realeased tax laws and regulation? Does it mean i have to go IRS website and try to find the updated infor and replace all the $ like exemption, threhold amount, phase out $….Etc with 2012 ?

    Thanks in advance

    Laziness is taking over…

I decided to start with REG’s material 2 weeks before schedule to gain time….guess what? I started with R1 last Wednesday, and I am not done yet….I watched the lecture, read the chapter and made notes, but still missing the homework. I should be done with MCQ’s today and start with R2 tomorrow.

Not sure if it is a combination of “waiting on scores’ disease” and “it is potentially my last” ;D….Wish me Luck!!!

    Done 😉
    Class of 2012!!!!
Lots of prayers and hard work....

@CPAinmaking: Yes, I did feel like Becker did a good job with FAR. Also in FAR, I felt that I got “my exam”. You know, the one you pray for….the one made just for you. It hit hard on the stuff I was strong in and skipped over my weak spots. Not so much in REG. Quite the opposite in fact.

Hello. I have just started studying for REG and I was wondering if any of you can give me an advice on how to tackle the research question on the simulation. It is different compared to the research sims that I did when I studied for AUD especially since it now involves Tax Codes. Can anyone recommend a good site to practice those questions or at least give me an idea on how to tackle it? Thanks

I just found out that I am lucky enough to get to take REG again! Any advice from anyone that has had to retake REG? How long will it take to get my “you suck” letter that lets me know what areas that I need to focus my studies on? Oh, and a big congrats to all of you that passed this time!

CARL – I just passed REG, this was my second attempt. I went from a 68 to an 85….I will tell you I used Reg NINJA Notes + 2012 Wiley Test bank exclusively. I am not a tax accountant so I had to learn a lot from scratch but I did around 3500 MC and over 100 Sims over a two month period and it paid off. I highly recommend supplementing both of these for Reg. Please note I do not work for this website or anything but Jeff's notes are priceless in my mind for Regulation. Best of muck to you in the future.

I usally get my score report via email like 3 days after I get my score online. If it was mailed (I used to get them mailed) it was about a week later.

Bakerslky, congrats on passing REG and finishing your exams! Thanks for the feedback, Gleim has a huge test bank and I thought their sims were pretty good too but apparently I was not as ready as I should have been. How long did you wait in between your 2 REG exams, just the 2 months? I emailed Jeff about the download, did you get multiple downloads for computers and smart phones or did you get just a one time download? Thanks for the feedback.

Yea, I took it 11/30/11 then 2/27/12..which I guess is 3 months but I didn't get into full study mode for my 2nd battle with REG until after the new year. Jeff will send you a PDF with the Ninja notes if you decide to purchase them I believe.

    Best of luck.

So I just failed REG (first time taking it). I used Becker Self Study. My materials have since expired. Any suggestions on which route I should go? Should I stick with Becker (even though it expired) or should I consider purchasing another alternative (maybe Yaeger?)

Thoughts and comments would be appreciated

I am from TX, IMPATIENTLY awaiting my score for REG. Does anyone know when the TSBPA is supposed to post them? This is the most nerve racking thing I have ever had to deal with…I will have passed all 4 if I passed this time, and I lose credit for FAR if I did not (I try not to think about the latter). I have been checking it all day and I am having a HARD time getting any work done!!! This is driving me nuts!!

    FAR: 81

    BEC: 69, 80

    AUD: 71, 77

    REG: 71, 72, 2/27/12
